Why would they? As you have pointed out, presenting such evidence does not invalidate a self defense claim, so why would the state bother?
The people with him however have been pretty open about how he was interacting with others and how they were trying to discourage him.

It is very difficult to take you even a little seriously when you use such arguments. You are logical, everyone else is 'using their imagination'.. the sites you have read are accurate, sites that give examples otherwise are bais. It is like arguing with a flat earther, you can not win when the person simply dismisses anything that does not agree with them as fake or emotionally driven since, being a rational person, disagreement must come from a place of irrationality, right?

It would affect his claim if he provoked the fight, though it would not necessarily preclude him from arguing self-defense. The state did in fact argue that he provoked via the drone footage.

I'm aware of only one case of this, Balch's testimony that a woman yelled "Fuck You" at him, he responded "I love you too, Ma'am" and Balch advised him it was better not to respond at all. From video, it appears the protest group found the sight of the armed men obnoxious and jeered them. But no, while there is a lot of evidence the protestors didn't like them, I dont think there is a lot of evidence that he was behaving badly toward them. There is video of him trying to assist a wounded protestor and wandering among the crowd chanting "anyone need medical" and things of that nature.

I remain deeply interested in understanding your assessment since yours is an opinion I respect so highly. Can you say what it was in your view that proved that? You think they caught him in a lie with some other evidence? On what?
Nothing specific. And I am no more interested in convincing you than I am in having you try to convince me.
It's not about convincing. I am honestly interested to understand in what would lead an intelligent viewer to that conclusion. I can see people believing he probably lied, sure. But proof beyond reasonable doubt is very strong! Nothing specific? Just vibes? No major point on which you can say they presented evidence showing he lied? I mean, I know he admitted lying that night about being an EMT, but resume-padding to get people to accept him as a medic hardly seems enough to impugn all his credibility.
I didn’t believe him. I don’t know how else to say it. In evaluating whether the State carried it’s burden, I am not required to accept as true testimony that I believe is false.

The whole time he was testifying, I was like, that’s such bullshit. His testimony seemed coached. I thought his crying jag was practiced. And there were lies and inconsistencies besides the medic one (I can’t recall off the top of my head - something about the property owner, and something about his friend). But after watching his testimony I found him not to be credible.

And even if he was sincere (and in my opinion he wasn’t), I don’t think his firing of the gun was a reasonable response to the threat.

So I think the State carried it’s burden.

Thanks for clarifying. This point is of course enough to convict all by itself, you wouldn't need a view on his credibility.

Kyle Rittenhouse is being sued by the estate of the man he killed, complains that lawsuits make it 'harder for me to move on with my life'

Kyle Rittenhouse faces another lawsuit in Kenosha shooting.

Kyle Rittenhouse has been sued by the estate of one of the men he shot and killed in 2020.
Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of all criminal charges, faces two other civil lawsuits from the shooting.
He says the lawsuits make it difficult for him to move on with his life, Texas Scorecard reported.

Kyle Rittenhouse, who killed two people in what became a flashpoint self-defense case, is being sued by the estate of one of the men he killed in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 2020.

The estate of Joseph Rosenbaum filed a lawsuit on August 25 against Rittenhouse, along with several police officers and personnel whom the suit accuses of negligence, wrongful death, and 13 other claims, Texas Scorecard first reported.

Rosenbaum, who was 36 years old and struggling with mental health issues, encountered Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020, amid civil unrest following a police shooting of Jacob Blake . He chased Rittenhouse, who ultimately shot Rosenbaum four times, killing him.

Rittenhouse, who did not live in the state of Wisconsin and was only 17 at the time, traveled there during the civil unrest. He was armed with a rifle that his friend bought on his behalf.

"Tragically, Joseph Rosenbaum died when Defendant Rittenhouse shot him," the lawsuit says, demanding compensatory damages.

Rittenhouse shot two more people there, killing a man named John Huber and injuring another, Gaige Grosskreutz. In a contentious criminal case in 2021, Rittenhouse was acquitted of all five charges related to the shootings after his attorneys argued he fired in self-defense.

Prior to this latest lawsuit, Huber's father and Grosskreutz each filed civil suits against Rittenhouse, according to Newsweek .

"If they take me down, they will take the rest of us down with them," Rittenhouse, who has become a right-wing hero for gun rights, said at the time, per Newsweek.

"These lawsuits are making it harder and harder for me to move on with my life," Rittenhouse told Texas Scorecard . "It is extremely difficult to go outside without fear of being harassed or assaulted because of the lies spread in these lawsuits. No one should have to continue to defend the fact that they acted in self defense."

It was not immediately clear if Rittenhouse had retained an attorney for the latest lawsuit. His attorney in a separate civil suit did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Look you murdering little right wing psychopath. You HAVE a life to "move on" with. The people you went hunting for don't because you wanted to go into an already tense area and fucking play live action Call of Duty with the rifle mommykins gave you.

The ONLY reason that you're not in the prison you rightly deserve to be in, is that the "judge" in your case did everything short of giving you a wet and sloppy blow job on the witness stand.

Hopefully the civil case judges won't be such squeeing fanbois over your worthless hide, because every single thing you own should be taken to settle your legal fees.

You deserve to be left living in a box with Brock Turner the rest of your life, doing the dirtiest, most menial jobs possible, and lamenting about how unfairly life has treated you both.

This wackiness happened back on March 31; you can find Twitter posts referencing it starting April 1, though it was, alas, no April Fool's joke.

Though I believe the verdict was correct, I don't admire KR. But it does seem that even he is basically "Uh, OK, Ted" about Nugent's ravings.

You can read the lawsuit here: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents ... ittenhouse

It appears to be a cut-and-paste job largely duplicating Huber family suit by the same lawyer, Kimberly Motley. You even run into a duplicated pair of successive paragraphs right at the beginning. As with that suit, the primary focus is on the many municipalities whose police departments took part, and their governing officials, whom it alleges conspired to privilege the armed civilians patrolling the streets, "deputizing" them, "conspiring with them", and allowing them to patrol the streets with assault weapons and "mete out justice as they saw fit", leading to the death of Rosenbaum.

So it is not simply an action to hold Rittenhouse personally accountable. He will have something like 20 co-defendants.

One detail I can't help but notice: a key claim is that the police favored the armed civilians over the protestors by allowing the armed civilians freedom of movement. But at a crucial point that evening, just before the shootings, Rittenhouse got separated from his escort Balch, and tried to return to his "base" just north of a line set up by the police (they were forcing protestors south of this line). And ... the police in armored vehicles did not allow him to cross. They treated him just like everyone else. Because of that, he wound up sort of stranded "behind enemy lines" as it were (without backup among the protestor group south of the line). And that was when he got a call about a fire on the other lot, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and went bopping obliviously south on Sheridan -- thereby crossing paths with Rosenbaum and giving Rosenbaum the opportunity to ambush him, setting in motion the fatal chain of events that ensued.

So, in fact, if the police had only privileged him as the suit alleges and allowed him freedom of movement get back to the safety of his companion group, there very likely would have been no loss of life that night.

ETA: Correction, Kimberly Motley is also handling Grosskreutz' suit, not Huber's father's.

I vote to rename “Killer Kyle” as “OJ Kyle”

In the hope that justice is served on Kyle in civil court where it failed in criminal court - as it did for OJ Simpson.

I’m sure we all can approve of that change.
