Watch the Original Schoolhouse Rock Composers Sing “Conjunction Junction” and “I’m Just a Bill” Live in Concert

In an interview with the director of the Fillius Jazz Archive at Hamilton College, Sheldon agreed that the series owed a major debt to jazz:

When we made Conjunction Junction, it was me and Teddy Edwards and Nick Ceroli and Leroy Vinegar and Bob Dorough played the piano. That’s a jazz band…it was really nothing to do with rock. It was always jazz, but we said rock and roll, so everybody loved it for rock and roll.

Been playing a game called the Long Bark and this is the Song that plays at the start of the Story chapters. It's pretty good.

This is how it looks in game with the intro movie. I think its extremely well done.

I heard something on the news about a person from Hawaii on American Idol, and the audience was very emotional. So I looked, and yeah, the audience cried a lot. The judges, too. I didn't have time to watch, but I saw the end. He won. Iam Tongi,18yo Samoan. His father urged him to get an audition, but then the father died. :crying:

Anyway, he reminds me of a young Bruddah Iz.

Here's the audition. His version of the Sounds of Silence is excellent, too.

VoicePlay is an *Incredible* acappella group that does all sorts of stuff. I had to pick this song of there's because, well, Vikings. (Now if they'd just do a Rush cover...) Anyway, they do all sorts of covers from show tunes to pop songs to tracks from video games to an acappella voice cover of an instrumental orchestral songs - in Halloween costumes. (I'll post that one next.)

But here is Valhalla Calling

He isn't known as the 'greatest guitarist you never heard of' for nothing.

Maybe you've heard of Lonnie Mack or Albert Collins?

Here's a short 'guitar summit'.

A double bass can be a lovely solo instrument. I am accompanying a performer on the 2nd movement of Serge Koussevitzky's double bass concerto (the first half of the video below). It is a lovely piece to work up. Luckily, it is not too difficult to learn that part in 2 weeks.

So yesterday between the normal Sunday service and a rehearsal for next week, I played various hymns (including St. Patrick's Breastplate), Mendelssohn, Charpentier, Koussevitzky, and a gospel song with the choir. Just a little diverse (in the past I have had Tallis, Anglican Chant, and a gospel anthem on the same service).

If you haven't heard, The Girl From Ipanema, Astrud Gilberto, died this week. She was the sound of Samba and introduced millions to the music from Brazil. The Girl from Ipanema became immortal.

She had other hits that didn't go far in the US, but were applauded elsewhere.

I often mixed her and Elis Regina up. Loved them both.
