Spring tornado watches are very commonplace this time of year in the midwest. Not that I think it was a bad idea to cancel on principle, but if you cancelled your plans every time there was a tornado watch in that part of the country, you'd never leave the house.

Donald Trump and his likely 2024 rival Ron DeSantis were planning on fighting for voters at duelling events in Iowa on Saturday.

Mr DeSantis, whose presidential campaign announcement could come any day now, spent the day shaking hands at a congressman’s annual picnic and then an Iowa Republican Party fundraiser in Cedar Rapids.

Mr Trump was originally slated to hold an outdoor rally in Des Moines tonight, but later had to cancel because of a tornado warning.

His critics on the right jumped on the decision, however, given that Mr DeSantis continued on with his own hand-shaking and voter outreach just a few minutes away from where the former president was set to speak.

One GOP strategist even speculated on CNN that Mr Trump feared being unable to gather a larger crowd than Mr DeSantis.

Any of us who lived in areas prone to tornadoes were taught what to do. Northern facing windows should be opened by two inches (pressure equalization) Hunker down in the safest lowest point interior of the house or building you are in.

It is not that hard. Little neon learned these things as a young school kid.

The Village People have sent former President Donald Trump a cease and desist order following a cover band’s performance at Mar-A-Lago last week.

Last Thursday, the former president danced his cares away poolside at Mar-a-Lago while listening to the popular song Macho Man — as performers dressed like the group danced.

On Monday, the group’s manager, Karen Willis, filed a formal cease and desist notice to the 45th president to stop further unauthorized performances or use of the music.

Willis, who happens to be the wife of the Village People’s lead singer Victor Willis, says the clip of the event — which has been circulating Twitter via @MJisMAGA — has caused a great deal of confusion for fans who mistakenly believed this was the real Village People.

“Though my husband has tolerated your client’s use of his Village People music, we cannot allow such use by him to cause public confusion as to endorsement,” Willis wrote to Trump’s lawyer Joseph Tacopina.
