Yeah, let's see it go around a corner and over a speed bump and a few more things like normal bicycles do.

Right now I haz a frown thrown down on motorized bicycles, of which ol' Wifehorn and I are seeing more and more of all the time. We were walking yesterday on the North Raleigh Greenway, and a dude went past at 30 mph. All the signs say 10 mph speed limit. Nobody pays fuck all attention to them. There are elderly people and small children who use the Greenway, and it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. Or worse.

But there's no enforcement, and it's fun to go 30 mph on a bicycle, when you don't even have to pedal the thing.

The square wheeled bike is ingenious, but noisy. That's makes a lot of racket. You'd never know if something was broken because it always sounds that way. And if it were ever to go into production, he might want to consider greased roller pin bearings on the sprocket, not dry sleeves.

Wow! Open toe sandals on a floor covered in swarth. No gloves. Welding without a mask or gloves. Loose clothing in a machine shop. No helmets. And crap everywhere.

Were there rings or other jewelry? That would be the icing on the cake.

Around 2:27, somebody's phone pinged with Facebook Messenger's new message sound. Between their good sound recording and the excellent sound on the laptop, I checked my phone.

Sadly, this has happened in a few things I was watching on TV.

Amazing.

Speaking of restored boats, these bunch in Arizona recovered a powerboat that sank 30 or so years ago when the lake level lowered.

There's a whole series of videos by this group, "Operation Yellow Submarine", highlighting what it took to get the boat off the dirt and then show it after restoration to the original owners. Part adventure, part emotional recounting of the accident, it is interesting:

I've been watching a lot of CuriousMarc's efforts to restore the Apollo communication systems. Not only the efforts to understand and restore the actual hardware, but the amount of test equipment and signal generators required. My mind reels.

I liked how he drilled holes in wood to hold the rods. He has very steady hands. I do have to ask him how he soldered to aluminum though.
