Actually, that will take a while.

First we are going to see a mad race to improve the AI so it's more like us, not less.

But yes, the next evolutionary step is machine sentience, and it's already begun.

Be thankful that these chat AI bots with attitude are (presently) limited to the keyboard/screen. Once those psychotic human personalities are incorporated in robots. Uh oh. End of civilization.
