Would be such damning proof of Trump’s criminal intent. Expect to see them in the grand jury and on the witness stand, if this is accurate.

It is clear from watching 2000 Mules that it is solely a propaganda piece that is intended to feed confirmation bias in anyone who is open to the idea that the 2020 election was stolen. It is not able and can not be used to persuade anyone who who has any skepticism whatsoever. It is a prime example of Trump and his fellow grifters complete willingness to tear apart the social fabric of our nation for their own profit and to prevent any accountability for their actions. I think things have gone far beyond debunking their propaganda -- we, as a nation, need to find a way to beat the twin Republican strategies of whataboutism and false equivalence and restore objective standards for accountability or the next Republican elected president will have a good chance of ending free and fair elections in this country.

Where did you see 2000 Mules for free? I would watch it but I never found a free way to view it in it's entirety. Yes, I know it is propaganda and not investigative journalism. It is Dinesh bootlicking tfg for granting him a pardon from his felony conviction.

A friend of mine -- I don't know how he got it -- downloaded it and found it persuasive. He asked me to watch it to get my opinion. I told him that, if anything, it made me more confident that election shenanigans hadn't gone on, but I don't think that really changed his opinion (he's not a Trumpist, but does tend toward the conspiratorial and has a deep distrust for the government). He also asked me to watch My Son Hunter, but I haven't done that yet.neonzx wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 2:16 amWhere did you see 2000 Mules for free? Having seen the whole thing, the biggest takeaway is how compelling it is to the target audience. It is very well designed with a bunch of shibboleths at the beginning that reinforce assumptions which misdirect any skepticism later in the movie so that the marks get off on outrage porn instead of asking about the man behind the curtain. You're not wrong about it, but you should also realize that it's highly effective propaganda because it further divides those who accept it from those that would debunk it.

I had an epiphany recently, listening to Greg Olear’s Prevail podcast. It was a repeat from about a year ago of his interview with Ruth Ben-Ghiat. She wrote Strong Men , a study of modern RW dictators/autocrats. I read it last year.
One thing I really like about Olear is that he’s a novelist first, political second or maybe third. He doesn’t have all the same guests or cover all the same ground as other political podcasts. They got to talking about tfg specifically (I still have a hard time using his name. PTSD?)
We’ve mused here about why he hired so many people who were under some kind of suspicion already or had a criminal record. When it came to lawyers, we assumed he couldn’t get the best to work for him so he settled.
Ben-Ghiat, though, says that strong men want those who are already compromised because they’re easier to fold into the plots. They don’t want anyone with a strong moral compass, or team players, or anyone who won’t fall in line with Dear Leader.
I don’t always see the obvious. ‘No one else will work for him’ is a plausible explanation. But to hear her say clearly that he’s following the authoritarian’s playbook to the letter brought it all together for me.
How can the press or anyone who’s not an incurable partisan say there’s no proof of his ill intent?
I don’t know if it’s too late - she thinks it is, I say never say never - but there’s no longer an iota of doubt that we dodged the first bullet with 2020. AND that it’s not over yet.

Don't know where to put this and it doesn't need a new thread. Trump appointed Architect of the Capitol has been fired by Biden.

I think he uses scare quotes for emphasis, where as most people who use anything use *asterisks*. He's just too stupid to realize there's a difference.pipistrelle wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 11:24 pm I can't guess what "killing" in scare quotes is supposed to mean.
