I guess that whole "no government intrusion" thing does not apply to consumers buying an EV car if they want. Liberty for me, not for thee.

But the mobiles don't hurt them when they meet in the church yard or sit in the community hall at the potluck lunch :cantlook: :brickwallsmall:

The things churches have to do to get members to remember to turn off their phones and not disturb the rest of the congregation is amazing. You try to ask nicely, you try to remind during service, but still in the middle of the sermon there always seem to be one phone going off or someone's phone vibrates and they just HAVE TO take the call.

So this would never be a problem for me since I don't do church but there are people who for whatever reason usually occupation or health will / can not be able to be unreachable for even the shortest of services. They should be allowed to set their devices to vibrate and perhaps strongly encouraged to sit near an exit.

Honestly, I would be as pissed off with this Ring tone crap in a church as I would be in a Movie Theater. Very pissed off.

Republican Wants to Fix the Completely Made-Up Issue of Aborted Fetal Tissue in Food

https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjkqm7/ ... -food-bill
Food does not contain aborted fetuses, but the total lack of existence of such a product hasn’t stopped one Texas Republican from trying to regulate it.

Ahead of the opening of the Texas state legislature last week, Republican state Sen. Bob Hall introduced a bill to mandate that food containing “human fetal tissue” be “clearly and conspicuously labeled.” If passed, this bill would also apply to food that is “manufactured using human fetal tissue,” or “derived from research using “derived from research using human fetal tissue.” Medical and cosmetic products that have links to fetal tissue would also be subject to these requirements.

Georgia police seize man’s new Mercedes just one day after he bought it

WSBTV.com News Staff
Tue, January 31, 2023 at 7:29 PM GMT+1

A Georgia police department received what they considered a ‘sizeable donation’ thanks to one North Carolina man.

The Rincon Police Department says Austin Banks, of North Carolina, bought a gold Mercedes-Benz.

Officials say an anonymous caller told police they saw Banks shopping at the local Walmart.

Authorities later learned Banks was reportedly in possession of concentrated THC, also known as Dabs.

According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, Dab or dabbing are the names for concentrated butane hash oil (BHO). It’s a new way of taking or ingesting cannabis that involves THC.

Officers did not say how much of the substance Banks had in his possession.

Officials says Banks had just purchased the Mercedes one day prior.

Banks car was seized and he was taken to the Effingham County jail.

Rincoin police says anyone who would like to donate their car to the police department can learn about their ‘charitable’ program.

“We would like to extend this program to whomever wishes to participate although there are certain restrictions. Rincon’s beloved Lt. Snitch is available to see if you qualify,” the department said.

Conservatives Are Pissed at Chick-fil-A's 'Woke' Sandwich
The conservative chicken chain has angered its base. And all it took was adding a cruciferous vegetable to the menu.

If you thought last month’s Twitter meltdown over a non-existent gas stove ban would be the strangest part of the 2023 culture wars… you are sadly wrong. Many tweeters are now angry at the beloved Christian conservative chicken chain Chick-fil-A for testing out a “plant-forward” alternative product.

This Thursday, the chain unveiled a breaded cauliflower sandwich. Starting on Monday, February 13, Chick-fil-A will test the new menu item in three markets; Denver, Charleston, S.C., and North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad region.
:snippity:
But a plant-based menu item (much like an induction stove) is a little too woke for some of the chain’s loyal customers The Tweet announcing the new menu item went live on Thursday. As of today the tweet has garnered about 3.5 million views and the comments have been disabled. The post was also rationed with more than 2,000 quote tweets, and about 1,400 likes. The press release announcing the new menu item linked to the tweet opens up a “site can’t be reached” page. The company’s press-room section is also unavailable at the moment.

The quote tweets were a barrage of people angry at the company for messing around with their Jesus Chicken. Maybe the backlash has been because anything deemed eco-friendly is too “woke.” Or because the cauliflower sandwich has sparked memories of Fox News warning Americans that Sleepy Joe was coming for their hamburgers. But whatever the reason, many tweeters are not happy.

Yabbut, the axes are perfect. Those axes are exactly what the Norse Vikings used when they never did anything so totally stupid. Or if they had done that, we wouldn't know about the Vikings because they would have all frozen to death before they could build those cool ships and started invading their neighbors.

Might have been nice to at least show the guy re-emerging from the water....

Sweet axes, though!

I ran into water at least that cold once. When I was a missionary in Nome, Ak, I "got" to participate in the Polar Bear swim right after the breakup of the ice on the Bering Sea. There were several (I presume) seconds (that felt like about 20 minutes or more) where my lungs couldn't figure out what to do, and it was a while before I felt at all warm again, but otherwise, I was fine :). That was my 2nd or 3rd day there  Quite the welcome!
