To the Virtual Drunk Tank with you, I think there's a little room off the main amphitheater, piled high with mattresses. We call it the "Quickie Room", but you three can take all the time you need. Just clean up before you leave, sheets go in the hamper just outside the door.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... ndraising/Arizona GOP raised record money with misleading pitches on election audit
GOP chair Kelli Ward said in a text message the party had no plans to fund the review, despite what it was telling supporters
Arizona’s Republican Party raised record sums in 2021 with repeated appeals to supporters for money to help audit the 2020 presidential election. “Pitch in to Help Us Finish America’s Audit!” and “Help America’s Audit” were among the dozens of pitches from the party.
But Kelli Ward, the state party chairwoman, was sending a very different message to top Republicans in Washington at the time.
“We have not been raising money to pay for the audit,” Ward wrote in one June 25, 2021, text message, according to a person with knowledge of the message, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal internal details. “We were expressly told that we could/should not raise money for the audit and auditors before the audit began.”
Instead, Ward wrote in the text, the party was going to “keep the pressure” on for an audit and “communicate” about an audit.
The text message suggests that Arizona GOP leaders had no intention of using donations to help pay for the audit effort, despite what it had been telling its supporters in fundraising pleas. In the end, the $6 million audit was bankrolled through a separate fundraising effort by election denier groups, along with $150,000 in initial taxpayer money.

Nice this topic has been quiet, maybe some of these lunatics are beginning to realize acting like a child about election results is not a winning position.

PHOENIX -- Voting results late Wednesday showed Arizona voters rejecting Republican election denier Mark Finchem for secretary of state in favor of Democrat Adrian Fontes. With 99% of precincts reporting, Fontes was ahead by nearly 85,000 votes, tallying 52.4% of the more than 1.7 million ballots counted so far against 47.6% for his GOP foe. All this comes as Arizonans are deciding whether to choose someone who had administered an election or someone who claims the results were fraudulent to be the state's top election official -- and first in line for governor if the incumbent leaves office. Fontes was the Maricopa County recorder for four years before being defeated in a reelection bid in 2020. Finchem said Fontes was "fired by the taxpayers'' for doing such a poor job.

We just got our nightly dose of ballots from Maricopa County, Arizona! About 78,000 of them, and they were good but not great for Democrats. (For example, Hobbs led Lake 55 percent to 45 percent in this batch.) An earlier vote update out of Pima County, though, was better for Democrats, and of course, since they lead in every statewide race we’re watching, they just need to not lose these additional ballot drops. Statewide:
Kelly now leads Masters for Senate by 114,894 votes (52 percent to 46 percent)
Hobbs now leads Lake for governor by 26,879 votes (51 percent to 49 percent)
Fontes now leads Finchem for secretary of state by 109,244 votes (53 percent to 47 percent)
Mayes now leads Hamadeh for attorney general by 16,414 votes (50.4 percent to 49.6 percent)

Despite judge's order, Cochise County officials proceed with plans for a full hand count of ballots
Cochise County officials are proceeding with a hand count of every ballot cast in Tuesday's election, despite a court ruling that bars them from doing so.
Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday authorized its attorney to appeal that ruling to the Arizona Supreme Court, complicating the timeline for when — or if — the controversial count would actually happen.
Recorder David Stevens acknowledged the order that blocks the county from hand counting all ballots. But, Stevens said, he was moving ahead on the advice of his attorney, Bryan Blehm.
“I have to drive on as if it’s going to happen," Stevens said, noting the law requires a hand count to begin within 24 hours of when the polls close on Election Day. He set a meeting for late Wednesday afternoon with the county's political party chairmen to select the four ballot races to include in the hand count.

Thank you thank you RDA! Total lunatics, we have to follow this story. We'll need Foggy to let us know if all 180 volunteers can fit in a Denny's.
The sort of good news is that the vibe out there is frustration, disappointment, and disillusionment. For two years it's been Any Day Now, and not a damn thing has happened or changed. The sheer number of hours these folks put in on Telegram and other RWNJ social media channels GUARANTEEING SUCCESS only to have ZERO to show for it (really, less than zero because they were grifted out of tons of money from the hucksters) is slowing them down. Bet it'll be like birthers, they'll just stop talking about it and slink away into the night. This is the only "hand count audit" I've heard about I think for these midterms, that's real progress. Maybe the constant losing, along with the total disappointment over the red tsunami that turned out to be a trickle of pi** will start to put a cork in them. Progress!

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/po ... 822009007/Arizona election 'audit' full of ineptitude, infighting and deceit, messages show
Ryan Randazzo - Arizona Republic
Thousands of new documents The Arizona Republic obtained from Cyber Ninjas, the obscure company state Senate Republicans hired to conduct a partisan "audit" of the 2020 election, show the endeavor was fraught with conflict and confusion.
The contractors confided they didn't know Arizona election law when they were hired, struggled to pay bills and raise money, fought over what to report to the Senate, got deeply sidetracked by a film about their effort, and consistently were in touch with people who tried to concoct ways to keep former President Trump in office after his election loss.
Among the most revealing details in the new documents are that the lead contractor reached out to people close to Trump to ask for money to conduct the supposedly objective "audit," and others involved communicated with the former president as well.
The Republic and a left-leaning watchdog group called American Oversight sued the Senate and Cyber Ninjas for emails, texts and other communications from the project and have received batches of documents for more than a year.
Doug Logan, the CEO at now-defunct Florida-based Cyber Ninjas, which former Senate President Karen Fann chose to direct the work, has continued to fight the release of all of his communications, which a judge said were subject to disclosure.
But facing a $50,000-a-day fine imposed more than a year ago, he recently turned over thousands of texts and Signal messages. Republic reporter Justin Price contributed to this article.

Newly released documents show how Republican Mark Brnovich publicized an incomplete account of his office’s probe of the 2020 election in Maricopa County
Nearly a year after the 2020 election, Arizona’s then-attorney general Mark Brnovich launched an investigation into voting in the state’s largest county that quickly consumed more than 10,000 hours of his staff’s time.
Investigators prepared a report in March 2022 stating that virtually all claims of error and malfeasance were unfounded, according to internal documents reviewed by The Washington Post. Brnovich, a Republican, kept it private.
In April, the attorney general — who was running in the GOP primary for a U.S. Senate seat — released an “Interim Report” claiming that his office had discovered “serious vulnerabilities.” He left out edits from his own investigators refuting his assertions.
His office then compiled an “Election Review Summary” in September that systematically refuted accusations of widespread fraud and made clear that none of the complaining parties — from state lawmakers to self-styled “election integrity” groups — had presented any evidence to support their claims. Brnovich left office last month without releasing the summary.

The absolutely funniest part of this is that this was the absolute worse thing he could have done.
By his pandering to the crazy right wing and having no sense of personal integrity, this lost him the support of the mod3rates and independents.
BUT by having just enough sense of self preservation to stop him from filing false indictments, he lost the crazy right wing faction as well.
It was a lose / lose situation, but at least he could have finished up with some dignity, instead of looking like a total putz.
From now on, "to Brno it" is going to mean a huge, self inflicted failure.

Former Arizona AG sat on records refuting election fraud
JONATHAN J. COOPER
Thu, February 23, 2023 at 1:09 AM GMT+1
PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona's former attorney general suppressed findings by his investigators who concluded there was no basis for allegations that the 2020 election was marred by widespread fraud, according to documents released Wednesday by his successor.
Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes, who took office last month, said the records show the 2020 election “was conducted fairly and accurately by election officials.”
