I make small rag dolls. I posted a few photos on the last thread, Notorious RBG, Svengoolie, Bill Nye, Jerry Garcia. I'm currently working on Kamala Harris. I like to add a prop to each. Sven had his rubber chicken, RBG had a law book, Adam Savage has a fire extinguisher. I'm stumped as to what would be appropriate for the new VP. The doll is about 12 inches and I usually hot glue the prop to their hand. Any suggestions? I'm pretty good at making stuff out of nothing so any idea is fine. I was thinking maybe a gavel. Does she use one as President of the Senate?

(In case you're wondering, I already have the high-top tennis shoes.)
May the bridges I burn light my way.

I was going to suggest Kevin McCarthy (Sedition Party, Ca.) ‘s nuts but realized he doesn’t have any.

I actually typed that first then changed it to McConnell, for pretty much the same reasoning.

Made for granddaughter’s 7th birthday. For those who crichet, this is eyelash yarn. You can’t see the stitches, you feel them. It’s wonderfully soft and plushy.

This is the doll blanket she wanted. She chose the design and colors. She made sure when I visited that the edging would be purple.

Both of these projects are great, TRL! I love them. They eyelash yarn is so super soft, I love it. I want to make something with it just to have an excuse to handle it.

We had a big music gathering here at Maybelot over Memorial Day weekend. One of the attendees taught me how to make pine needle baskets. This is my first attempt (she claims the quality improves with practice).

The center piece at the bottom is a metal fretwork medallion. The coils are pine needles, and the thread is an artificial sinew.

We have 3 pine needle weavers in the craftsmen's guild and they're amazing. Bessie Johnson is known all over the country for hers, with good reason.

Pine needle weaving! Looks wonderful, maybenaut! We had so many pine needles in our south Arkansas home we tried to find a way to do something with them. We came up with selling pine needle futures. When my cousin moved to Georgia pine needles were used as mulch. Couldn't sell that in Arkansas. There were more pine needles than you ever wanted.
