As it turns out, one of those recalled Ferraris is in my garage in FL.

Not because I own it, but because my neighbor is having some sort of severe plumbing problem in his house, and he just wanted it out of harm's way.

Normally my garage has a Volkswagen in it, but that's up here at the Undisclosed Secure Location. I'm worried that the garage-door opener will refuse to open for the VW when we get back.

Another pharmaceutical company has recalled blood pressure medication over illness risk

Devoun Cetoute
Sat, December 24, 2022 at 10:20 PM GMT+1

Another pharmaceutical company is recalling a blood pressure medication that could increase the risk of cancer if taken in large amounts.

On Wednesday, Lupin Pharmaceuticals recalled four lots of Quinapril Tablets because the medication has too much of the nitrosamine impurity N-Nitroso-Quinapril, the FDA announced.

The medication in question is marked as:

▪ Quinapril Tablets USP, 20mg | lot No. G102929 | expiration date of April 2023

▪ Quinapril Tablets USP, 40mg | lot Nos. G100533, G100534, G203071 | expiration dates of December 2022 and March 2024

The tablets are used for treatment of hypertension and packaged in 90-count bottles. They were distributed nationwide to wholesalers, drugstore chains, mail-order pharmacies and supermarkets. Lupin stopped marketing the medication in September and is notifying businesses of the recall.

In October, Aurobindo Pharma recalled two lots of Quinapril because of the same nitrosamine impurity.

Fisher-Price reminds consumers of 2019 recall of Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after more deaths
Fisher-Price has reannounced its 2019 recall of the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers on Monday after at least eight infant deaths occurred after the initial recall, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“On April 12, 2019, at the time the original recall was announced, over 30 fatalities were reported to have occurred in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances,” the commission said in a statement. “Since the recall, approximately 70 additional fatalities have been reported, which includes at least 8 fatalities that were reported to have occurred after the initial recall announcement.”

“Approximately 100 deaths have reportedly occurred while infants were in the products,” the CPSC indicated. “Fisher-Price notes that in some of the reports, it has been unable to confirm the circumstances of the incidents or that the product was a Rock ‘n Play Sleeper.”

The CPSC indicated that “consumers should stop using the Rock ‘n Play immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher. It is illegal to sell or distribute the recalled sleepers.”

More than 400 food products sold under dozens of brand names were recalled due to possible Listeria contamination, the US Food and Drug Administration announced Friday.

The recall by Fresh Ideation Food Group LLC includes ready-to-eat sandwiches, salads, yogurts, wraps and other products sold in nine states and Washington, DC, from January 24 through January 30.

The Baltimore company said Friday that no illnesses have been reported so far.

“The recall was initiated after the company’s environmental samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes,” Fresh Ideation Food Group said in its recall announcement.

Eating Listeria-contaminated food can cause a serious infection that can lead to symptoms including fever, headache, diarrhea and vomiting, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It’s most likely to sicken pregnant women and their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems, according to the CDC. “An estimated 1,600 people get listeriosis each year, and about 260 die,” the agency says.

Ram recalls 340,000 heavy-duty Cummins-powered trucks for fire risk

Jeremy Korzeniewski
Thu, February 16, 2023 at 6:30 PM GMT+1

Ram is notifying owners of over 340,000 heavy-duty pickup trucks to park outside due to the risk of a fire. The affected vehicles use an older type of heater-grid electrical connector that is no longer in use, according to the Associated Press. A similar recall was performed in 2021, covering a smaller number of trucks. Included in this latest recall are certain 2021-2023 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups along with Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab models.

Official documents for this latest fire-related recall have not yet been posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The similar 2021 recall, however, said, "Owners are advised to park these vehicles outside of buildings or structures, and not near other vehicles, until the vehicle has been remedied." So it's not surprising that CNBC reports that Stellantis is again advising owners to park their vehicles outside.

A total of 306,165 trucks affected by this recall were sold in the U.S., and 21,988 more were sold in Canada. The remaining 12,590 were sold outside of North America. All of the affected trucks are powered by Ram's 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine.

Tesla recalls 362,000 vehicles over self-driving software flaws that risk crashes
Regulators say driver assistance system does not adequately adhere to traffic safety laws and can cause crashes

Reuters
Thu 16 Feb 2023 19.41 GMT

Tesla said it would recall 362,000 US vehicles to update its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta software after regulators said on Thursday the driver assistance system did not adequately adhere to traffic safety laws and could cause crashes.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the Tesla software allows a vehicle to “exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash”.

Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update free of charge, and the electric vehicle maker said is not aware of any injuries or deaths that may be related to the recall issue. The automaker said it had 18 warranty claims.

Tesla shares were down 1.6% at $210.76 on Thursday afternoon.

The recall covers 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with FSD Beta software or pending installation.

NHTSA asked Tesla to recall the vehicles, but the company said despite the recall it did not concur in NHTSA’s analysis. The move is a rare intervention by federal regulators in a real-world testing program that the company sees as crucial to the development of cars that can drive themselves. FSD Beta is used by hundreds of thousands of Tesla customers.

The setback for Tesla’s automated driving effort comes about two weeks before the company’s March 1 investor day, during which Chief Executive Elon Musk is expected to promote the EV maker’s artificial intelligence capability and plans to expand its vehicle lineup.

FDA widens advisory on eye products after patients blinded, hospitalized

Julia Mueller
Wed, February 22, 2023 at 5:52 PM GMT+1

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday widened an advisory on artificial tear products to include additional ones manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare Private Limited over concerns of a potential bacterial contamination that could result in blindness or death.

The FDA warning now urges consumers and health care professionals not to use EzriCare Artificial Tears, Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Tears and Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Eye Ointment, which are intended to be sterile.

The manufacturer first recalled the artificial tears at the recommendation of the FDA due to what the agency says were violations of its current good manufacturing practice.

Among the issues noted by the FDA were drug formulation issues, concerns about packaging and lack of appropriate microbial testing.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) earlier this month warned against using the EzriCare or Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Tears products as it investigated what it says is a potentially related string of some 56 Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial cases.

The cases span 12 states and include five reports of vision loss and one death, according to the CDC’s latest update.

Toyota warns 50,000 US vehicle owners to stop driving, get immediate repairs

Updated Mon, January 29, 2024 at 10:48 PM GMT+1·2 min read
By David Shepardson

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Toyota Motor said on Monday it is urging the owners of 50,000 older U.S. vehicles to get immediate recall repairs because an air bag inflator could explode and potentially kill motorists.

The Japanese automaker said the "Do Not Drive" advisory covers some 2003-2004 model year Corolla, 2003-2004 Corolla Matrix, and 2004-2005 RAV4s with Takata air bag inflators.

More than 30 deaths worldwide, including 26 U.S. deaths, and hundreds of injuries in various automakers' vehicles since 2009 are linked to Takata air bag inflators that can explode, unleashing metal shrapnel inside cars and trucks.

Over the last decade, more than 67 million Takata air bag inflators have been recalled in the United States by more than 20 automakers, and more than 100 million inflators worldwide, in the biggest auto safety callback in history.

Toyota said the RAV4 recall involves the driver's airbag while the other recalls involve the front passenger airbag only. In some Corolla and Corolla Matrix models, certain vehicles are also involved in a second recall that can cause the airbag to deploy even without a crash.

There have been prior "Do Not Drive" warnings issued by other automakers for vehicles with older Takata air bag inflators after fatal crashes. Toyota declined to answer if the "Do Not Drive" warning had been prompted by a serious injury or fatal incident involving one of the vehicles.

So, either it took Toyota 20 years to figure this out ....or, to admit that they knew about it.

It may be an issue that the airbag components are degrading unexpectedly, which is why they have only now required a recall.

the "serious injury risk" is not from the safes but from their content
More than 100,000 biometric gun safes recalled for serious injury risk

MARY WALRATH-HOLDRIDGE USA TODAY
02/23/2024

More than 120,000 gun safes have been recalled for faulty biometric systems that may allow them to open for unauthorized users.

According to notices issued by The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday, biometric gun safes manufactured by Bulldog Cases, Machir, MouTec and Awesafe are affected by the recall.

Multiple accounts of the safes opening when they should not were reported to the companies, prompting recalls due to the risk of injury or even death.

Here are the companies and models involved in the recalls.
