So, I'm not one for Christmas music, but I understand Wham! and Mariah Carey have very popular Christmas songs

There's a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality.

Have been browsing through YouTube for a version of the advent hymn “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” that sounds as rejoiceful (rather than “reverential?”) as I remember singing it many years ago. Some beautifully sung versions, and some “odd” ones, but can’t find one where the singers actually sound joyous. Maybe I’ve got the wrong idea about it. :(

It's hard to sound rejoiceful in a Dorian mode (similar to a minor key). but the last verse of this one ends rather triumphantly.

Set to start at 3:36 in.

Not going hideously slow helps a bit as well.

Thanks. At least the choir are singing as if they are rejoicing about something

even though it is not specifically a "Christmas" song, Leroy Anderson's 'Sleighride' is one of my favorites.
My dad was a big Boston Pops fan, so it was always in the holiday mix.

Yaknow, if'n Sleigh Ride were sung like most of these allegedly joyful carols, it'd be Hearse Ride.

"Sleigh Ride" wins my vote! Last century I owned a Leroy Anderson's Greatest Hits tape. His music is so graphic! Think of "The Typewriter".

I'll be home for Christmas was always my favorite Christmas song. My Dad was in Vietnam early 1970 something and that was the longest year of my life with so many of my friends having their dads come home in a box. He was supposed to be home the following New Year but we got word he was on the way and would be home for Christmas and he got home on Christmas eve. I was the happiest girl in the world. That night it started to snow, big fluffy snowflakes drifting down like feathers through the light from the street lamps. I got my boots and coat and climbed out my bedroom window and sat against the wall watching the snowflakes fall as the radio in my room was playing "I'll be home for Christmas", and home my dad finally was. Tears poured and snot ran as I sat there extremely thankful for having him home safe and to this day I've never seen it snow again on Christmas Eve but I still bust a tear every time I hear that song.
