Our city has announced that they expect to implement Phase 1 of their drought response on December 5th.

Dry, so dry. ;)

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you SIL's mother has a quick recovery and that SIL's brother and his wife are able to come!

Too much Thanksgiving drama. ;)

Yesterday after Mrs. V ran the self cleaning cycle on our oven the oven stopped working.

It is still under warranty so I spent most of the evening arranging for warranty service which couldn't come until Tuesday.

This morning Mrs. V ran to the store for a turkey breast that would fit in the crockpot. Meanwhile our SIL called a local appliance guy and miracle of miracles he could come this morning.

Turns out the fuse in the oven had blown. He was able to get a replacement and the oven is working! :P

So now we have a 6 lb turkey breast cooking in the pot and a 20 lb Butterball roasting in the oven.

Turkey gets cooked today so our vegans can use the oven tomorrow.

Here, too. Just took it out of the oven.

Our younger daughter is doing a live captioning session this evening.

Mrs. V is carving the second half of the turkey that I started carving.

Our SIL'S brother and his wife have just arrived from Colorado.

Mrs. V and I have done almost all our cooking for tomorrow so the kitchen will be available for others.

Our vegan SIL will be making green bean casserole but first he has to make vegan mushroom soup from scratch since most store bought cream of mushroom soups aren't vegan.

Pies to replace those that SIL's parents won't be bringing due to Covid have been procured.

Wine rack is full.

Cable service is set to record the Macy's Parade.

Yep, we're ready.

Still raining lightly.

Descaled our Keurig Slim just now.

Now to start on Christmas. Probably no tree this year because our younger cat would certainly climb into it. He climbs everywhere else.
:(

Mrs. V and our daughter went out yesterday and got pansies and some bushes. Pansies do well here in the winter.

Mrs. V and I just went to a performance of Vivaldi's Gloria in D Major at a small Presbyterian church up by the AFB.

The performance was only fair but they were enthusiastic and had gone to the trouble of getting a small orchestra to accompany their choir. Also it was free. On the theory that you get what you pay for, we got more than we paid for.

Mrs. V is now making keto beef stew in the Instant Pot.

Given the venue and season - did you get an encore of “While Sheppards Watched Their Flocks by Night”?

Chance of 1/4" to 1/2" of rain tonight. Won't end the drought but every drop helps.

Currently our city's reservoirs are 65.6% full. More water use restrictions will happen if that drops to 65%.

For the second time in two months our cable service provider has messed up our service.

We are reduced to using our smartphones connected to the cell phone towers. No TV, no wifi.

Our SIL is talking to the cable company right now.

Power out due to storm. Woke me because CPAP stopped.

Outage not very widespread. Lucky us. ;)

Reported outage online via smartphone.

House is eerily quiet. Can hear cat crunching food in kitchen.

Today and tomorrow are student early release days at our daughter's school district. Not for teachers however.

Our daughter just came home for a quick snack and to get Mrs. V. to go back with her this evening to help with some things in her classroom. Dinner is postponed until later. :( Going ahead with my pre-dinner cocktail anyway. ;)

Our daughter just too dedicated.

Mrs. V and our daughter have been cleaning out the garage yesterday and today. Had some furniture we no longer wanted which they put out at the curb. Our street is so quiet I was concerned that no one would help themselves but within minutes everything was gone.

I am having a quiet Friday afternoon.

Mrs. V is food shopping.

Our daughter is at her school which is still on winter break but one of the 2nd grade teachers unexpectedly resigned so the remaining 3 teachers on the 2nd grade team are scrambling to cover her lesson plans and grades. Looks like they will have to start classes on Monday with a teacher's aide covering for that teacher.

Our SIL the Public Defender is at his office downtown.

Our city's reservoir levels have dropped below 65% to 64.7%. Additional water use restrictions have been implemented.
City of Wichita Falls, Texas Government

·
As of January 9, 2023, the combined lake levels of Lakes Kickapoo and Arrowhead have fallen below 65%. According to the Wichita Falls City Drought Ordinance, that level has implemented the Stage 1 Drought Watch.
Watering hours are now restricted to the following:
• Even numbered addresses can only water on Monday and Thursday.
• Odd-numbered addresses can only water on Tuesday and Friday.
The allowed hours on the designated day are from Midnight to 10 am or 7 pm to Midnight.
Hand-held hose, soaker, and dripper irrigation are exempt from the above restrictions.
If a home is served by a water well, it is required by law to be registered with the City of Wichita Falls Public Works Office. An online form is available at wichitafallstx.gov, or you can call (940)761-7477.
Water customers can also register a free account on the City’s MyH2o and track residential or commercial water usage. You can access that service by clicking here https://my-wfall.sensus-analytics.com/l ... ml#/signin
