There's normally a law saying (as shown in the tweet), if the court is closed on the last filing day, the deadline is extended to the next day the court is open. But due to the tight turnaround in election contests, I could see that not being the rule in this instance.

Border barrier of shipping containers snakes across Arizona wilderness

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (Reuters) - A long, thin line stretches across the dusty Arizona landscape. It is a border barrier - but not the customary wall or fence. This is made up entirely of shipping containers stacked on top of each other.

The improvised wall - topped with concertina wire - was ordered built by Republican Governor Doug Ducey in August in an attempt to fill gaps in the U.S.-Mexico border used by migrants.

Border communities had been overwhelmed, he argued, saying the double-stacked containers would reach 22 feet (6.7 m) high.

Initially ordered for Yuma County, Reuters observed a container wall being constructed in Cochise County.

Environmental protesters said the construction was harmful to local wildlife. On Tuesday, a small group sat next to one of the containers.

"We're not here to cause damage, get in anyone's way. What we're here to do is enjoy our public lands in a strategic way that hinders the placement of further shipping containers," said Eamon Harrity, wildlife project manager at Sky Island Alliance.

The Center for Biological Diversity has said the containers may obstruct a critical jaguar and ocelot migration corridor, while the U.S. Forest Service said at the end of November that the wall could create safety hazards and called it unlawful.

Ducey argues he has the right to defend the state of Arizona and protect its citizens. He has filed a lawsuit asking a judge to stop the federal government from interfering. Last month, the federal government filed a motion to dismiss that lawsuit.

In the second contest, Hamadeh requests “judicial intervention” to ensure the candidate who “received the highest number of lawful votes is declared the next Arizona Attorney General.” The lawsuit begins by stating that the plaintiffs are not “alleging any fraud, manipulation or other intentional wrongdoing that would impugn the outcomes of the November 8, 2022, general election” but then proceeds to cast doubt upon the results of the Arizona midterm elections by citing “systematic” errors. The plaintiffs claim that 269 voters’ early ballots were not counted and at least 126 voters were “incorrectly informed that they had already voted and were permitted to complete and submit only a provisional ballot” and that “the Maricopa County Defendants failed to tabulate these valid provisional ballots for inclusion in the canvass.” The plaintiffs also argue that the Ballot Duplication Boards (which are tasked with transposing a voter’s selections if an electronic tabulator cannot read the ballot) did not correctly duplicate certain ballots, which the plaintiffs allege “caused an erroneous count of votes for the office of Arizona Attorney General.” The plaintiffs assert that “the counties’ Electronic Adjudication Boards have incorrectly recorded a material number of voter selections in the race for Arizona Attorney General in the November 8, 2022 general election, thereby resulting in the unlawful mistabulation of a ballot lawfully cast by a qualified elector.” Moreover, the plaintiffs allege that “illegal votes” were cast arguing “the number of tabulated early ballots associated with an uncured affidavit signature that does not match the signature in the corresponding registration record is material to, and potentially dispositive of, the outcome of the election for the office of Arizona Attorney General.”

'We’re obeying the law. They’re the ones who are disobeying': Protestors block Ducey's unlawful wall

The federal government has repeatedly said that Arizona Republican Doug Ducey’s illegal, environmentally damaging shipping container “wall” is being constructed without permission, but has taken no action to stop its construction or tear down the unlawful pile of steel.

So what started out as a couple of thousand feet has now stretched into miles of grotesque “wall” dumped along the desert. Ducey has been rushing the $100,000,000 taxpayer-funded project, with just a couple of weeks left in office before Democrat Katie Hobbs takes over.

So, outraged Arizonans have now been forced to take matters into their own hands. “Since Nov. 29, a loose collection of locals, environmental activists, hippies, and migrant solidarity workers have been putting their bodies in the way of the machines,” Unicorn Riot reports. The independent media outlet said that when workers building this “wall” tried switching to night shifts to avoid the demonstrators, demonstrators altered their own shifts too.

The outlet [Unicorn Riot]said that its report last weekend that “Thursday was the first day the workers didn’t come to the site at all,” with only a security guard remaining on site. The guard was not hostile, at times chatting with blockaders.

Hobbs can kill two birds with one stone by letting people, companies, or other states take and claim them on the condition they remove them and turn them into homeless shelters.

In the past week I've documented Gov. Ducey's illegal boxcar wall placed across more than two dozen ephemeral streams. Each without a 404 Clean Water Act permit.

Sheriff to builders working on Ducey's illegal 'wall': Don't you even think about it in this county

Santa Cruz County Sheriff David Hathaway “told FOX 10 that he plans to arrest construction crews and security personnel if they reach Santa Cruz County,” the report said, calling the stacking “illegal dumping.”

"The area where they're placing the containers is entirely on federal land, on national forest land," Hathaway told FOX 10 this past weekend. "It's not state land, it's not private land, and the federal government has said this [is] illegal activity. So just the way if I saw somebody doing an assault or a homicide or a vehicle theft on public land within my county, I would charge that person with a crime."

Hathaway told FOX 10 that construction was happening about six miles away from the county line. Nogales International reported that while Ducey spokesperson C.J. Karamargin confirmed plans for Cochise County, he would not comment about Santa Cruz County.
