He is on record as saying he wanted to see the end of the 50-50 tie in the Senate. If he defected, he would be re-creating the very thing he decried.

To be fair to Manchin, he does come from a right-leaning state, West Virginia. If he were perceived as "siding with the liberals" too much, he would be vulnerable in the next election. He probably is, anyway.

I don't think that the Democrats in the Senate will move to punish him. First of all, they understand the thin line he must walk if he wants to remain in the Senate. Secondly, they still need him. Not all D's support every single D proposal that comes down the pike, so on a close or controversial issue, they might need his vote, even though he no longer has quite the same power to single-handedly block legislation.

Warnock has endured four elections in two years! He must be more than relieved for his six year term.

I'm very excited because I contributed much $$$ to Sen. Warnock and my Indivisible group wrote hundreds of letters and postcards for him. We are not in Georgia but I feel invested in him.
Thanks, because you helped me as well

Just drives home at a new level what an epic shit sack Trump is that Herschel Walker, who has some serious shortcomings, is able to give a dignified concession and essentially say: I lost. I won’t make excuses. And thanks to the people who supported me. Not that hard not to suck.

We are setting a REALLY low bar these days. Admit you lost. That’s it.

Great observation! That was certainly the most articulate and sincere thing I've heard him say in the whole campaign. Hopefully it will make him useless to the people who have been exploiting him and he'll be able to get out of the public spotlight.

He who will not be forgotten by Republicans
Florida Sen. Rick Scott says defeated Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker will 'continue to be a leader' in the GOP 'for years to come'

John L. Dorman
Sun, December 11, 2022 at 4:26 PM

Sen. Rick Scott said Herschel Walker would "continue to be a leader" in the GOP "for years to come."

Scott made the comments following Walker's runoff defeat to Sen. Raphael Warnock in Georgia.

The Florida lawmaker was a visible presence at many Walker rallies throughout the campaign.

GOP Sen. Rick Scott of Florida believes Herschel Walker will "continue to be a leader in our party for years to come" after the former NFL player was defeated in the Georgia Senate runoff.

"Over the last year, I've gotten to know Herschel and have seen first-hand the movement he built in his home state," Scott said in a statement on Wednesday. "Herschel's story and message inspired millions in Georgia and across the country. While Herschel came up short ... I know he will continue to be a leader in our party for years to come."

Scott, who led the campaign arm to elect GOP senators during the 2022 midterm cycle, stumped with Walker in Georgia throughout the campaign, boosting Walker's candidacy in making the case for the party's need to have greater influence over the legislative agenda on Capitol Hill with President Joe Biden in the White House.

But after a long general election campaign and a four-week runoff, Walker ultimately fell to Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who earned a full six-year term by highlighting his record of bipartisanship on the campaign trail while also repeatedly questioning his opponent's fitness for office — which Republicans struggled to counteract.

Skelator Rick Scott.

I'm on his email list (because I like punishment). He does little other than bitch about Dems (while offering no solutions other than electing Reps, like brained damaged Walker).

How he has managed to shove under the rug his published plans to "sunset"(his word) Medicare and Social Security, I have no idea.

But this is Florida. I didn't vote him in.

I am proud to say that I have voted against Rick Scott in every single election in Florida in which he has appeared.

My side lost each time, but not for want of my vote.
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.
