Thread. I believe this is a bench trial.
Daniel Egtvedt's trial continues into day 3 today. It's also the second day of jury selection for the next Oath Keepers trial group.

As we suspected, a false flag.

https://www.rawstory.com/trump-january-6-2658897270/
On his Truth Social network, the former president boosted a post from an anonymous user who baselessly claimed that the Capitol riot was a setup of Trump supporters.

"Those people do not deserve this... this was a false flag and it was planned out very meticulously," the post stated. "If there were a hundred National Guard troops at the Capitol that day none of this would have happened. Nancy Pelosi rejected Donald J Trump's recommendation for having troops at the Capitol that day."

A bench trial starts today for Garret Miller, of Texas. He faces a number of charges, including one count for allegedly transmitting a threat against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Hoping to make it to openings, but there's a lot going on.

I'm also waiting to find out whether Daniel Egtvedt will be testifying in his own defense today. Should know soon, hopefully.

Jan. 6 defendant Anthime Gionet (aka "Baked Alaska") really lucked out on a case reassignment. He went from Judge Emmet Sullivan to Judge Trevor McFadden.

His sentencing is now set for Jan. 10, 2022, at 10 AM.

New footage of rioter Ronald Sandlin (bright orange shirt) attempting to pull the helmet off a police officer as he was swallowed up by the mob at the rotunda doors. Sandlin was sentenced to 63 months today.

“You’re life’s not worth it,” he said to another officer. “Run.”

On Dec. 12, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit will hear arguments in a case that holds the potential to upend literally hundreds of felony prosecutions stemming from the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

The matter is an appeal by the government of a trilogy of consolidated cases involving three rioters: Joseph Fischer, Garret Miller, and Edward Jacob Lang. The defendants allegedly stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an effort to halt or delay the joint session of Congress that was then due to certify the 2020 presidential election. Prior to trial, U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols dismissed a count against each defendant alleging corrupt obstruction of an official proceeding under 18 U.S.C. §1512(c)(2)—the felony charge leveled most frequently in prosecutions arising from the Capitol siege. Nichols ruled that the statute’s broad language needs to be read in a very narrow way that would exclude the conduct alleged in these cases. The government then brought immediate 'interlocutory' appeals of the dismissals.

If Nichols’s decision is upheld, it’s hard to overstate the mammoth wrench it would throw into the Justice Department’s nearly two-year campaign to bring Capitol rioters to justice. Of the more than 910 individuals who have been charged with federal crimes stemming from that event, more than 290 have been charged with corrupt obstruction of an official proceeding. At least 70 rioters have already been convicted of that offense (or of conspiring to commit it), according to the George Washington University Program on Extremism. Among the latter are a number of high-profile defendants who pleaded guilty to that charge alone, including Jacob Chansley (the so-called QAnon Shaman); at least four members of the paramilitary Oath Keepers organization, two of whose leaders were found guilty of seditious conspiracy in November; and at least four members of the Proud Boys gang, whose leaders are set to stand trial for seditious conspiracy later this month.

A Puyallup couple have been charged with illegally entering the U.S. Capitol and engaging in disruptive behavior during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection in Washington, D.C.

Scott Roy Christensen, 49, and his wife, Holly Dionne Christensen, 44, are named in charges unsealed in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia late last month. They have been ordered to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge Thursday to enter pleas, according to the court docket.

Christensen is a former Realtor who worked in California and Colorado before moving to Puyallup, where he sold real estate and later became a pastor at the Renovo Church of Christ in Tacoma in 2015. Washington business records indicate the church closed earlier this year. According to records, he also worked as an associate youth pastor at the Rainier View Christian Church in Tacoma.

The alleged crimes are misdemeanors, punishable by up to a year in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000.

According to the charges, FBI agents used cellphone data, Capitol surveillance video, news footage and law enforcement body-camera video as evidence against the Christensens, who according to the charges had attended the “Stop the Steal” rally where President Donald Trump spoke beforehand.

The Republican's would like to push the lie that the January 6th riot was not planned by Trump or his supporters. Then why did Trump supporters show up to January 6th with "Civil War" shirts dated January 6th?

UPDATE: Prosecutors want Jan. 6 defendant Ronald Sandlin to pay a $20,000 fine, citing his campaign to raise donations for legal fees even though he has a taxpayer funded lawyer.

Sandlin raised $21,000 through his GiveSendGo campaign but now says he only has $8,000 left.
DOJ says it’s an incredible level of spending on personal expenses for an incarcerated defendant — who acknowledged today he gave some of the money to other inmates and used it largely for movies/personal comforts, not legal fees as he claimed.
