I was also tripped up by that. My brain read "absurdity."

Then I realized he was using a word no fucking Qbert on the planet knows.

CNN reporting online that Kash did appear before grand jury investigating the Mar A Lago documents. I'll post a link when I see one.

A grand jury issued the subpoena for the documents in May, 2022.

What does it mean DOJ is compelling Kash Patel to testify? It means DOJ is conferring immunity on him, which means he cant take 5, but his testimony (and leads) cannot be used against him. So DOJ has determined it cannot make a crim case against him, but wants his testimony. 1/2

DOJ can compel Patel to testify under oath in the grand jury. If Patel then lies after being compelled to testify under a grant of immunity, Patel CAN be prosecuted for those grand jury lies, assuming DOJ can prove it. Risk: Patel lies and provides a false alibi for Trump.

Patel has already clearly lied in public, will be interesting to see what he does in sworn testimony.

Is that true? To paraphrase Inigo Montoya, I do not think that means what he thinks it means.

A person can be compelled to appear before a grand jury, with or without immunity. They may be allowed to "take the fifth" and refuse to answer certain questions.

Since GJ proceedings are usually secret, we can't really know what he was or was not offered in the way of immunity. I don't think we can infer immunity merely from his appearance at the GJ.
