Remarkable how quickly the Dahmer series became #2 of all time. Netflix also has a new 3-part documentary about Dahmer featuring an interview he did with one of his attorneys that hasn't been released until now.
‘Dahmer’ Becomes Netflix’s Second Biggest Series Ever
By Peter White @peterzwhite
October 11, 2022 12:00pm

Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story continues its ratings spree. The Ryan Murphy series has become Netflix’s second most popular series of all time, behind the fourth season of Stranger Things, after another impressive week. In its third week, the series continued to top Netflix’s global Top 10 English TV List with another 205.33M hours viewed. This takes it to 701.37M hours viewed in its first three weeks after racking up 196.2M hours watched in its first week and 299.84M hours viewed during its second week. For context, Stranger Things 4 saw 1.35B hours viewed in its first month.

It comes as Murphy’s feature film Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, which he produced, debuted at number two on the Top 10 English Films List with 35.42M hours viewed. Peters stars as the notorious serial killer in the ten-part series, which is largely told from the point of view of Dahmer’s victims, and dives deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree. The series dramatizes at least 10 instances where Dahmer was almost apprehended but ultimately let go.Niecy Nash also stars in the series, along with Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald and Michael Learned. The series comes from Murphy and Ian Brennan, who created it and exec produce alongside Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Evan Peters, Janet Mock, and Carl Franklin.

Hope they'll approach porn studios Falcon or NextDoor Studios to shoot some content. 8-) Wasn't Maddy caught dry-humping a dude on camera that was released? Still trying to guess who's the bottom, seems more like pretty Bo but Maddy is passive. Maybe a flip video? :towel:

The Mormon Church said Tuesday that it supported federal legislation seeking to protect same-sex marriage rights, but it cautioned that the church’s doctrine stating marriage should be between a man and a woman remained unchanged.

In a marked shift from decades of attacks on LGBTQ rights, the statement was perhaps the clearest declaration of support yet on same-sex marriage from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The church said it believes the Respect for Marriage Act is “the way forward.” The bill would require same-sex and interracial marriages to be recognized across the United States as long as the marriage was valid in the state in which it was performed. It faces a procedural vote in the Senate on Wednesday.

"Joe Biden, gay icon" arrived as an email from POLITICO. It's incredible and humbling how quickly this keeps happening, latest polling was 71% support. Rufus Gifford is an old friend, he's at the State Dept now and included in the story. 25 years ago (or less), you couldn't really even work in the State Dept. When in the Soviet Union in the 80s, being gay was huge kompromat (artists and creative people got a break).

Thank you again everybody for your support. :lovestruck:

President JOE BIDEN, on the cusp of his 80th birthday, can sometimes sound like a throwback with his colloquialisms, dad jokes and wistful reminiscences about the good old days in the Senate when lawmakers actually liked each other. But on the issue of gay rights, Biden has been ahead of the political curve for a decade now. And he’s about to become a central figure in the historic movement for the second time.

The Senate voted 62-37 earlier this week to move forward on the Respect for Marriage Act, clearing the legislation’s biggest remaining hurdle. That means that the legislation enshrining same-sex marriage as the law of the land could be on the president’s desk well before Christmas. “Love is love,” Biden tweeted after Tuesday’s vote.

When Biden signs the legislation into law, it will be a bookend to a personal evolution on the issue that began a decade ago for the devout Catholic. Responding to a question on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in 2012, the then-vice president said he supported same-sex marriage because it came down to the simple question: "Who do you love?" The response, which put Biden out ahead of President BARACK OBAMA and the Democratic Party establishment, left the White House scrambling. Obama rushed to catch up, announcing his own support for same-sex marriage just three days later.

“I still remember where I was when that happened,” said RUFUS GIFFORD, the openly gay former ambassador to Denmark under Obama who is now chief of protocol at the State Department. “It’s hard to overstate the emotion associated with it, as someone who grew up never believing that the traditional definition of happiness that my parents had hoped for me to have would ever come to be.”

The NBC interview was a watershed for a politician who, in the Senate, voted for the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as between a man and woman. By 2012, however, the politics around gay rights had shifted. And so did the president’s views. According to aides close to the president, Biden, a blue collar guy with a lifelong affinity for underdogs, saw the matter as one of basic human dignity.

After the interview, “he was immediately celebrated afterwards by folks in the LGBTQ community for his bravery and for coming out before Obama,” said SASHA ISENBERG, whose book, “ The Engagement,” details the 25-year fight for marriage equality. “He became a hero to liberals in a way he'd never been on any issue in his career. And the response he got emboldened him.”

Suddenly, Biden was ahead of most of his colleagues in also addressing transgender rights, as he did in speeches at the Human Rights Coalition’s annual dinners. And the LGBTQ community took note. In the run-up to the 2020 election, gay activist TIM GILL and his husband SCOTT MILLER (who Biden later appointed ambassador to Switzerland) were among the loudest voices urging Biden to run.

On his first day in office, the president signed an executive order combating discrimination across the federal government; days later, he rescinded a ban on transgender service members in the military. The White House also pointed to Biden’s State of the Union address in March, when he decried an “onslaught” of GOP-sponsored legislation in states targeting transgender youth, whom he addressed directly: “I’ll always have your back as your president, so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential.”

Fourteen percent of Biden’s appointees identify as LGBTQ, the White House said, including many in front-facing roles. Transportation Secretary PETE BUTTIGIEG is the country’s first openly gay Cabinet secretary. As press secretary, KARINE JEAN-PIERRE represents the administration every day at the briefing room podium. STUART DELERY, who became White House counsel in July, is the first openly gay person to serve in that role. And whenever Biden hosts or meets with heads of state, Gifford is the first one greeting them when their limousines pull up to the West Wing portico.

“It wasn’t that long ago that someone in my position couldn’t be openly gay, because you couldn’t get a security clearance,” he said.

"There are a lot of people in our community who have seen his record and are motivated by it and want to come work for him,” said GAUTAM RAGHAVAN, who, as deputy director of the Office of Presidential Personnel, oversees hiring across the administration.

DEMETRE DASKALAKIS , a prominent gay doctor and infectious disease specialist, was appointed in August to serve as deputy coordinator of the administration’s monkeypox response. On his first day at the White House, Daskalakis recalled, Biden spoke to him and ROBERT FENTON, the top monkeypox coordinator, in surprisingly personal terms about the virus’ impact on the LGBTQ community. He urged them to ensure that gay Americans know their health and wellbeing was a top priority for the White House.

To Raghavan, Biden’s legacy on equality issues is well cemented. But a bill signing in the weeks ahead once the Respect for Marriage Act reaches his desk would punctuate a sea change in American life.

“To me, and I think to a lot of people like me, to see the president of the United States sign something like this, it is a very important symbolic affirmation of our relationships,” Raghavan said.

https://apnews.com/article/caribbean-ba ... 2d3d658894
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A top court in Barbados has struck down colonial-era laws that criminalize gay sex, becoming the third nation in the conservative Caribbean region to do so this year.

The ruling issued Monday by the Barbados High Court is a pivotal moment for activists and nonprofit organizations who have long fought against such laws on the eastern Caribbean island, including one that demands up to a life sentence for gay men found guilty of having sex.

“It’s gone from a certain ripple effect to a tidal wave in the Caribbean, which is what everyone involved set out to achieve,” said Téa Braun, chief executive of the London-based Human Dignity Trust, a human rights organization.

While the laws were rarely invoked, they signal that LGBTQ people are criminal and lesser citizens, Braun said.

“The striking down of the laws reverses that and overnight tells the entire society that this is consensual contact and that what people choose to do with their private relationships is not the business of the law,” she said in a phone interview.

Hubby had a discussion with a right leaning friend about pronouns. I did some research and discovered this site which speaks to the history of grammarians trying to solve the problem.

https://uwm.edu/lgbtrc/support/gender-pronouns/
Gender Pronouns

Gender Neutral / Gender Inclusive Pronouns
A gender neutral or gender inclusive pronoun is a pronoun which does not associate a gender with the individual who is being discussed.

Some languages, such as English, do not have a gender neutral or third gender pronoun available, and this has been criticized, since in many instances, writers, speakers, etc. use “he/his” when referring to a generic individual in the third person. Also, the dichotomy of “he and she” in English does not leave room for other gender identities, which is a source of frustration to the transgender and gender queer communities.

Language Authorities
“One”
In 1770, Robert Baker suggested use of “one, ones” instead of “one, his”, since there was no equivalent “one, hers”. Others shared this sentiment in 1868, 1884, 1979, and even now. Others throughout this period disagreed, finding it too pedantic.

“His or Her” vs. Singular “They”
Around 1795, the language authorities Lindley Murray, Joseph Priestly, and Hugh Blair, amongst others, campaigned against pronoun irregularities in pronoun use, such as lack of agreement in gender and number. Without coining words, this can only be done in the third person singular by use of compound terms like “his or her”. Grammarians in 1879, 1922, 1931, 1957, and the 1970s have accepted “they” as a singular term that could be used in place of “he” or “he or she”, though sometimes limiting it to informal constructions. Others in 1795, 1825, 1863, 1898, 1926, and 1982 argued against it for various reasons. And whatever the grammarians might argue, people have been using the singular “they” for about the last 600 years, though (as mentioned earlier) it can only be applied in certain cases. If new gender-neutral pronouns are not adopted, i’m sure that singular “they” will still be a point of contention for centuries to come. For further information on the use of singular “their” throughout the centuries, see the large body of information that Henry Churchyard has compiled on the subject.

Suzie, Adam's great. We have the same birthday (1/29, along with Oprah) and I got to know Adam in LA (he's a Cali boy) when he performed at my friend's place, Upright Cabaret. Before Idol, my buddy paid him $50 to perform New Year's Eve, this was one of the songs (hadn't realized there are a lot of Upright clips on YouTube, check them out). He's a great guy and I'm so proud of him. Freddie Mercury and Queen were at my surprise 21st birthday party so now to see Adam singing Freddie's part is incredible. Lots of Adam stories.

Log Cabin republicans, not to mention that "MAGA Queen" drag performer and a certain right wing horror writer who manages to be a transwoman AND a TERF, confuse me. It's like "You DO know they hate you as well. And the minute you stop being useful, they'll demonize you just like the people you're helping to demonize."

At best, I consider them to be misguided or self-hating. At worse, I consider them to be kapos.

When I first registered to vote at 18, I registered Republican. That didn't last too long, and there's a big reason I bailed on the Republican party way back when in my wasted youth; I realized my gorgoeous, willowy, occasionally blond, surf punk ass wasn't actually welcome there.

I have since maintained a Decline to State registration, except to vote in a specific primary now & again. Thankfully, the Jungle Primary system has made that need obsolete.

But it amazes me how many of my LGBTQ+ brethren & cistern & other maintain membership in a party that wishes them dead. I mean, I know it's not a huge number, but the fact that there are any? Mind boggling.

"I never thought leopards would eat my face!" says prey supporting the leopards.

Gay And Trans Republicans Shocked DeSantis Now Targeting Them

I will pause for a moment....

HOW THE FLAMING HELL HAVE YOU ALL NOT NOTICED THE FACT YOUR FRIENDS AND BUDDIES IN THE GOP HATE YOUR VERY EXISTANCE AND WANT YOU FUCKING DEAD!!!!!!!

..ummm....sorry about that.

Anyway:
"A number of gay and trans Republicans, who have in the past supported anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ policies, now found themselves criticizing the campaign for turning on them. Notably, Scott Presler, co-founder of “Gays For Trump,” publicly questioned the DeSantis campaign’s stance and asked what the campaign felt about a gay person like him. It’s worth mentioning that Presler had previously endorsed DeSantis’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies, including the contentious “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” law, and has boasted about his voter registration efforts playing a role in DeSantis’s electoral success.

Richard Grenell, a prominent gay Republican political operative and former member of President Trump’s cabinet, also expressed consternation, labeling the ad as “undeniably homophobic.” It's noteworthy that Grenell has a history of criticizing “wokeness” and “trans radicalism,” and has been an advocate for various anti-LGBTQ+ measures, including bans on gender-affirming care and the “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” law."
So basically, you both thought that, by playing along and attacking the "TQ+" part of LBGTQ+, (and yes, we've seen your snotty "Alphabet Mafia" comments. If there was a real "Alphabet Mafia", both of you would have woken up with sparkly unicorn heads in your beds), your buddies would figure you were the "Good Ones" and would go after everyone else. After all, you're rich, (mostly) white, and cisgender males. They'll just leave you alone, right? They couldn't possibly be thinking of eventually pulling a "Night of the Long Knives 2: Electric Boogaloo" on you??

And then there's Quisling Caitlyn Jenner, who thinks her status as a rich white cishet right winger person will somehow make the GOP overlook the fact they're calling transwomen like her "demons", "predators", and calling for the "elimination" of transgender people.
"Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender Republican political commentator, stated that the candidate had “hit a new low.” It’s important to highlight that Jenner herself has been a consistent proponent of DeSantis’ anti-LGBTQ+ policies, including some featured in the ad. She has often contended that supporting LGBTQ+ individuals in schools equates to “grooming,” backed drag bans, and previously expressed being a “big supporter of Ron DeSantis” specifically for his “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” law."
Caitlyn seems to think that the leopard is only playing with her face, not figuring out where to take the first bite.
