Ya know, Edison wasn’t the only one to renig on promises to Tesla.

Westinghouse did too.

In Nikola Tesla's original contract with George Westinghouse, the inventor was promised a bonus of $2.50 for every horsepower of alternating current sold. But making Tesla's AC motor was expensive, and Westinghouse soon told Tesla he wouldn't be able to pay him what was originally promised.

Dear Friends, in these days of modern times, when you can't tell the ACs from the DCs, well, aren't we all yearning for someone who can turn on a little stopping power? Dear friends, I mean a smoky glass?

So this is basically what I do for a living (electrical engineer specializing in power systems working for a utility). I will note that there is a point at which ultra high voltage DC transmission becomes viable. There's also an issue for DC protective devices trying to clear a fault (I just presented a paper on a closely related topic last Friday*) that makes DC not as big an improvement as you might otherwise think.

*yes, I did my first paper presentation in over 20 years three days after my seizure to an international audience, and I wasn't even the primary author. No pressure.

Yeah, I'd been looking at the possibilities of this from an office building standpoint prior to my current job (though it could absolutely work in this environment), in particular linking it to onsite photovoltaic (rooftop solar, solar carports, and solar glass). Some of the lights in my basement use PoE. As with anything, there's limitations, but nothing prevents this from working and working quite well.

One assumes they are bussing, home runs of cat5 from every fixture would quickly get insane.

In Lloyd Alter's Treehugger World you don't air fry. He believes 200sf is enough living space. You wouldn't have a counter to put it on.
