NAVAJO NATION, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A woman is facing federal murder charges after allegedly shooting her husband and 6-year-old son near their home in the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona.
According to a federal indictment, Navajo Police responded to a home Wednesday night after a caller said a man and child were found dead near the town of Kaibito. The caller also reported that several cars traveling between that town and Red Lake had been struck by gunfire.
Officers and later agents from the FBI arrived and discovered the bodies of a man and a 6-year-old boy, both found shot in the head. The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Lydia Carol King, who left before law enforcement arrived.

St. Louis is prevented by state law from passing common sense gun laws. Tragic. Nothing could be done to prevent this?
https://www.azfamily.com/2022/10/11/2-y ... olice-say/2-year-old dies after shooting himself in head, police say
A 2-year-old has died after police say he shot himself in St. Louis on Monday.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the boy was inside a car when he shot himself in the head in the early afternoon. It appears the shooting happened in an AutoZone parking lot, where police were working the scene.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones said in a tweet that the city “lost another one of our babies in an accidental shooting today.”
“While the state legislature prohibits us from making our own commonsense gun safety laws, St. Louisans CAN take steps as responsible gun owners to protect our families and communities,” Jones tweeted.
She reminded gun owners to store their weapons away from children, unloaded and with a gun lock.

Suspect, 15, in Custody After Shooting Rampage Left 5 Dead

RALEIGH, N.C. — At least five people were fatally shot on Thursday as a 15-year-old boy carved a trail of bloodshed through a residential neighborhood in Raleigh, the authorities said, leaving a crime scene that stretched over two miles and setting off a sprawling investigation to determine a motive for the attacks.
“We don’t have answers as to why this tragedy occurred,” Chief Estella Patterson of the Raleigh Police Department told reporters during a briefing on Friday morning.
The dead include a city police officer, Gabriel Torres, 29, who was on his way to work when he was shot on Thursday afternoon, Chief Patterson said. She identified the other victims as a 52-year-old woman, a 49-year-old woman, a 35-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy.
The 15-year-old suspect, whose identity the authorities have not disclosed, is in custody at a hospital, in critical condition, the authorities said. It is unclear how and when he was injured. Two other people were wounded in the shootings, Chief Patterson said: a 59-year-old woman who was in critical condition and a police officer who was treated at a hospital and released.
It was not immediately clear whether any of the victims knew the assailant, and the police chief did not provide any details about what kind of gun was used.

There are those whom the people have decided shouldn’t be driving a car. How unreasonable then to assert that there are people who, in the interest of public safety, shouldn’t have guns?

It's just getting worse. Too easy to have weapons, thanks to SCOTUS. Hawaii has the lowest rate of deaths from firearms, but now it will go up. What a horrible... Well, it's what we got now. The majority are very angry, but there seems to be nothing to do about it.

Something really weird is going on with the Raleigh shooting - a complete news blackout regarding the parents of the 15 year old kid who did it. We know his name is Austin Thompson. We know he was a sophomore at Knightdale High School. But she can't find anything on the parents.
Of course, it would be irresponsible not to speculate, and I am going to speculate that one or more of the parents are cops. Or a judge or something.
Whatever, you know the media has the names. So why are the parents never mentioned?

WHERE DID THE SUSPECT LIVE? Austin Thompson lived in the Hedingham neighborhood. Neighbors said he lived with his father, a handyman in the neighborhood, and would help on odd jobs. Several described unusual behavior from the son. ”I used to see him at 4:30, 5 in the morning with a bookbag on,” said Lavarius Thompson, a neighbor. “Buses don’t run till 7 in the morning.” Lavarius Thompson, who is unrelated to a victim with the same last name, said he normally works out in his garage, but something kept him from the habit Thursday night.

https://meaww.com/raleigh-shooter-arres ... d-5-peopleAustin’s parents Allen Thompson and Elise Thompson hasn’t commented on the killing of their other son James. In the process, he suffered critical injuries, however, it is unclear whether it is self-inflicted or caused by gunfight with the police, as per federal briefing memo. The alleged shooter was treated at Raleigh’s WakeMed, reported WRAL. Those who spotted him, said he "looked like a baby," and was armed with a "long rifle."

Here are a couple questions I haven't seen answered, that you would think the media would be asking.
Where did the kid learn to shoot? He seemed to be fairly proficient. Where did he get the gun? Were there any warning signs? Has he said anything since he was arrested? (I know he's still in hospital) What was going on with the brother?
There just seems to be a lot of missing information here.

Sorry for the months-long delay here.Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 10:40 am When I first moved here, Fort Myers used to have an annual ZombieCon street fair a couple of weeks before Halloween and it was a blast.
Then some fuckhead decided to "shoot into the crowd" killing one and injuring several others and that was the end of ZombieCon. It took years but I think they finally arrested someone, maybe it was the guy, maybe not, who knows any more, but they ended up writing it off to gang violence IIRC, perhaps an initiation? Maybe Neon remembers better.
Yeah, they suspected it was a gang initiation for a awhile, but they had few leads. Ultimately, the shooter ended up in Lee County jail on an unrelated charge ~two years later. He wasn't a local-- think he was from the Miami area. And, he told/bragged to his cellmate about the ZombieCom shootings/murder. Cellmate snitched. (good on him)
He ended up pleading guilty and was sentanced to 30 years. (think that was too light a sentance)

But yeah, that ended ZombieCon. And the city spent a whole lot of money putting in a 100 or so 24/7 monitored cameras throughout downtown. As well as a system called ShotSpotter gunshot detection, which can pinpoint where a gun is fired from in realtime.
I miss ZombieCon.

Florida father and son shoot at innocent woman they thought tried to break in home, sheriff says

A Florida father and his 15-year-old son were arrested on attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting at an innocent woman after they received a mixed-up package at their door and suspected a burglar was breaking in, officials said.
Gino Colonacosta, 73, and his son opened fire Saturday morning after they got a Ring doorbell notification about someone at the front door of their Winter Haven apartment around 7 a.m., Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
That person was a neighbor who received a medicine delivery for the Coloncostas at his home, and being “a good Samaritan” he took the medicine and hung it on the Coloncosta’s front door, Judd said.
But after receiving an alert from their Ring doorbell camera, the father and son exited their home armed with .45 caliber firearms searching for a person they suspected to be a burglar, according to the sheriff’s office.
Nearly 100 yards away, they found a woman sitting in a dark-colored vehicle with dark windows and the engine running, looking at her phone, and targeted her, Judd said.
“When she looks up and she sees Gino standing at the back of the vehicle with a gun pointed at her, screaming for her to get out of the car, she thinks, ‘He’s about to carjack me, he’s about to rob me,'” Judd said.
The woman threw her car into reverse in an attempt to back out of the way and crashed into a car behind her in the frantic escape.
The teenage son heard the commotion and neared the car and thought “our victim is trying to back into him” and he opened fire, Judd said.
Both Colonacosta and his son started shooting into the car as the woman sped away.
They shot a total of seven times. The woman was not hit, and alerted the sheriff’s office.

Sadly, you are probably right. She tried to flee a 'good guy with a gun', and part of the appeal of gun culture is that idea that people will respect you and do as you say when you have a gun and they do not. As Rittenhouse showed, failing to act in deference to an armed vigilante is the transgression, not pointing guns at people.. and thus in many people's minds she is at fault for escalating by failing to obey the orders of the gun havers.Dave from down under wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:38 pm Florida... odds on the charges will be dropped against them and they will get a paid gig on Fox and a pony...
