My wife literally said, at her father's funeral service, that she was so close to him in his latter life "it was like I was the son he never had."

Her brother, sitting not 20 feet away, never blinked.

Hooray, it's Grand Slam Grand Jury Day!

Did you hook up with Amy Kremer, The Spork, or any of the other great ideas folks provided for the quorum?

This may be the most important Grand Jury proceeding of the year!

Amped for the tea and photos you'll be spilling later! Hope there will be some pole dancing photos.

.. and as expected, the right shoulder has the same injury as the left, with the same treatment.

And so now, the only shoulder or knee joint I have that doesn't get a cortisone shot every 90 days is the one in which I already had a total knee replacement. And all the others need replacement sooner or later.

On the bright side, he said if I wasn't working so hard, I wouldn't be able to use the shoulders at all.

Foggy wrote: Tue Oct 04, 2022 7:10 pm I have had a long, terrible, annoying day. At 3:30 my doctor said if I was going to be combative, blah blah blah.
Oh man.

Today I went to my Duke Health website and read the notes the asshole wrote on my medical chart. There were outright lies. He made me sound like a dementia patient.
Patient was very argumentative today and did not know he was here and he did not understand why I ordered labs.
Golly, if I didn't know I was there, maybe you should have called my wife or an Uber to come get me. He meant to say that I didn't know WHY I was there, but I certainly did ask him "Why am I here today? What are you treating, now that my diabetes and blood pressure are under control?" He never did answer. But his typo makes it look like I was gazing around the room with the thousand-yard stare.
Patient states that he has not smoked in a couple years.
No, asshole, you're supposed to know I quit THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.
States other than a couple drinks. Does not drink alcohol.
Per hour? Per day? Per week? I told him "a couple of drinks per YEAR"
Foot care discussed.
He forgotted that he forfeited any discussion of my feet, because he was too cowardly to prescribe the Tramadol I take, and I have to pay a specialist (which means a $50 copay twice a year) to get the medication for my feet, so I refuse to discuss my foot care with him. I have a foot care doctor. No, he's simply lying when he says we discussed my foot care.

And ol' Wifehorn won't let me just drop it now, because we're applying for long term care insurance in January, and if I get turned down because I'm argumentative with doctors and don't know where I am, I'm going to be turned down for dementia issues, and if one insurance company turns me down, none of them will issue a policy, so I have to get this fixed.

After a day on the phone with Patient Resolution and the health administrator, here's where we are:

1) I will write a totally clean, neutral version of what he should have written. I will not crab about the 13 blood tests, it will just say "patient declined any labs". I won't call him a fucking liar about my foot care, it will just omit foot care anything. I will make it so non-insulting he shouldn't refuse to substitute it for what he wrote.

2. If he agrees and edits his notes, it's over. I have a new doctor already.

3. If he disagrees, I will escalate through the Duke Health system no matter what it takes, and I will also file a complaint with Medicare (CMS) that will go on his permanent record, because I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure my medical records don't have any references to me having dementia of any kind. And if Medicare finds out he ordered blood tests 13 times in a row, every visit for four solid years, they may have some questions of their own.

Questions? OK, you in the back in the muu-muu or whatever that thing is.

No, ma'am. Following the birther movement wasn't dementia, it was a hobby. :fingerwag: Maybe now it looks a little like dementia.

Oh man, I'm getting combative again. :boxing:

Anyway, Inditement of what's-his-name will wait until mañana. I've had a few crappy days in a row, and I'm on a break.
Edit: Joe Biden meant, no one fucks with the Bryans. Another slip-up, I'm letting him off for this one.

What we didn’t - couldn’t - know at the time was that ostensibly serious and credible attorneys who aren’t even dentists on the side, would use very much the same tactics and strategies to try to defend Trump’s claims of election fraud.

I mean, Trump himself was just a sad Johnny-come-lately to the whole birther saga.

Anyway, don’t worry Foggy. We will all love you and support you, even after your dementia progresses to the point where you no longer know who we are or why we’re all here.

That's what I told ol' Wifehorn. But an insurance underwriter isn't going to call him on the phone and ask, did you mean WHY he was here?

And even then, there was only one reason for me not knowing WHY I was there, and that's because he refused to give me an answer to the question. It makes me sound like I'm unable to understand my medical situation and my various treatments, but I have six other doctors who will tell you I have a damned good understanding.

So I have to follow up. I would prefer to drop it, but ol' Wifehorn put her foot down on this one.

Last post, and what scared the Patient Resolution lady and the health administrator -- was what he DIDN'T put in my chart.

He never did bother to ask me if'n I had any new medical problems. Which, y'all know, I actually do have a major new problem, I had a severe rotator cuff injury within the last two weeks in my right shoulder, which required an x-ray this morning and a shot of cortisone for treatment.

But my primary care provider couldn't be bothered asking if I had any new medical problems, and his notes on my chart -- made while my shoulder was in significant pain, if only he had asked -- reflected the fact that he never asked about any new problems.

Okay, but he did ask if I had started smoking again since June, give him that much.

But the Patient Resolution lady and the health administrator are going to bring that up with him, in case I have to take this thing any further. I'll edit the notes tomorrow, and then get back to the Inditement, and g'night, y'all.

I was sent to a neurologist after my stroke. We were introduced, and for the entire rest of the visit he didn’t look at me or speak to me. Only to the Mr. He continued after I said “Hi I’m right here.” And Mr520 said “she talks and everything.” He asked me to make a follow-up appointment but I marched right outta there. Some Doctors…
It led me to the fabulous doc I have today though.

On the other hand, you apparantly didn’t tell him about your shoulder either?

Why were you there in the first place?

That sounds exactly like my sister’s experience, only it was the surgeon who did her gallbladder surgery. The doctor addressed everything to my sister’s husband. Just weird.

I've been pretty lucky. I don't have much of a choice in doctors because I need one that makes house calls, but I found one who's whole practice is built around them, so he has connections to mobile labs and even an eye doctor who does house calls. When anyone comes for an appointment, my husband and/or caretaker just stay in the living room while the doc and I chat in my room. Occasionally there are problems getting orders for labs or prescriptions for meds sent in properly on the first try, but when I've let them know there's a problem, it's usually fixed within an hour or so.

The thing l appreciate most about them, though, is that they don't just blame all of my problems on my being fat. They'll actually check to see if there's something else going on, and they're probably the first doctor's office I've had who treats me that way.

A company we do business with sent ol' Wifehorn a bottle of wine for her birthday that is totally customized with her full name, her date of birth, a "Happy __th Birthday!" and a kind of artistic rendering of the seven people in their office who know exactly how old she is (and who, therefore, must be hunted down and eliminated). She is unhappy enough about that, BUT (there's always a but):

... but to make things worse, in addition to the totally customized label that she hates, the back says it's "red wine blend", not even a pricy vintner.

Well, shoot. Send it my way. I'll gladly drink it. I'll even save it for my December birthday when I'm turning 70. Don't torture your wife by keeping it in the house. The sooner you get rid of it, the better. I'm glad to do you this favor.
