Re: Cats!
This is Trudy, senior cat of 3. Inside the house I always wear my birks, with 3 country cats who come and go as they please through the doggie door there are sometimes gifts left around the house that are disgusting to step on with bare feet. Whenever I sit at my desk I always kick them off and if she is in the house she always puts them on and sleeps on them. Such a silly old girl.
Re: Cats!
I laughed so hard at that unimpressed cat. Then, under my breath said "that's so funny".
Then, my Alexa said "funny in a good way, I hope".

Cats!
My daughter has a dog that was only ever around cats and it took us forever to figure out that his growl was actually a purr.

Cats!
A day late, but still au courant.
https://nationaldaycalendar.com/global- ... ctober-16/
My sister adopted her and I explained why Smudge was not the right name, that she should be Cleopatra or Nefertiti or another majestic name. So my twin named her Neferkitti!!!!! Parfait! She graciously shares HER household with the resident dogs.

I fostered a cat who was part of this program. She was a tiny black cat with the personality of a diva. Definitely NOT suitable for a multi-cat household. She had been named Smudge by the folks who fed her.GLOBAL CAT DAY | October 16
Global Cat Day on October 16th raises awareness surrounding non-lethal feline programs across the country. More than any other shelter animal, cats and kittens face euthanization at a much higher rate. However, programs such as trap, neuter, and release (TNR) are making it possible for cats to live full and healthy lives right in our neighborhoods.
TNR programs aim to reduce shelters and overall colony populations across the country. TNR programs trap feral and stray cats. They are then neutered and vaccinated under the care of a veterinarian. Their ears are tipped to identify that they have been neutered. Then the cat is released back into the neighborhood where they were captured.
Long-term studies across the country show that not only does the population decline, but the cats live out their lives healthily. Additionally, these programs save taxpayers money over time.
Reduces animal service calls
Lessens the burden on shelters
Neighborhoods become quieter – mating behavior decreases

Cats!
I’ve been lusting after a Maine Coon ever since I learned of their existence, and especially after I lost my two 20lb boys to fireworks (and probably coyotes). This weekend we were visiting friends and I was moaning about never getting this one last wish - I’m old, Maine Coons live 20 years.
And then I got home and went on NextDoor for the first time in two years and now I’m getting a Maine Coon kitten, rehomed. I’m floating. I’ll post pictures this weekend. I pick him up Friday. Currently, his name is Rocky.

Cats!
My son William 3rd is now 23 and Rocky the kitteh has long departed this mortal coil, but here's how to play string.
.
.
OMG, just looking at him I miss that rascal. The gray in the photo is darker than he was in real life. What a dork he was. One time he fell between the railings on the upstairs floor and fell all the way to the first floor, PLOP! right in the middle of Christmas Day dinner with our good friends. I thought he was dead, but he just got the wind knocked out of him. Of course he didn't land on all four legs, he was Rocky, a total dork.
But a lover, and a great cat.

He was. I have a soft spot for cats named Rocky, that's why I brought him up.
He was a beautiful, beautiful boy, and he had poofters - hair coming off the side of his cheeks that blew in the wind.
But he didn't like North Carolina much. We never had thunderstorms in SoCal, try Santa Ana windstorms instead, but not thunder. And the thunder can be extremely loud where we are, surrounded by tall trees on three sides.
He's in a better place now, I suspect.

I might keep the name just because it would bring giggles thinking of that scene. Thanks, boss!
I’m excited! He comes Friday.
