Now I can celebrate my Peedom.
After my first knee replacement and catheter experience, I got home and sat in my chair for a while. Stood up and *woosh,* gravity-fed gusher. Fully open pipes with nothing to stop it. :oldlady: That was eye-opening.

Not just a question or comment for our getting old ailments...

Has anyone had experience with ulcerative Colitis and diet changes that helped. It's been suggested that the Mediterranean Diet with modifications at times works well. I was just hoping to add some tidbits of advice to add to my considerations.

Thanks kids.

No suggestions, but sorry about the diagnosis. I hope you find something that works for you.

Thanks, Andy. When I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago, I found that my insurance doesn't cover nutrition support. But, as nurses often do, they researched and printed out several articles, studies and suggestions before I came home. There were two "diets" that seemed doable and and fairly supportive of the two. The Med diet aligns more with my epicurian slant...simple, vegetables and pasta. At least so far, that's what I see.

I can't seem to digest meat...chicken included. So what? Does that mean my protein is from beans? 🥹

A side thingy. I told the hospital I wanted NO visitors. Somehow (small town) my Dad heard I was there and day three, a nurse came in to tell me my Dad was in the lobby and wanted to respect that but would they come ask me if he could just come in and tell me he loved me. He did this everyday for the rest of my days there. Ten minute visit, no invasive questions, a big, soft bear hug hug and an "I love you."

I've lost, now...40 pounds since Feb/March this year. It seems my body is not processing what little nutrition I could keep down. I still cannot eat much but keeping it down if I do a little time.

To sum it up, I got out on a Thursday and was able to celebrate Dad's 85th BD with the whole extended family on Saturday. Additional info:. Dad adopted me when I was four years old. He was 24. Now he is 85, has a pacemaker and isn't a spring chicken. Everytime we have a chance to get together, he tells all the old hilarious stories that he shares, "Did I tell you about the time...". I says yeah, but it's my favorite, so tell me again.

I don't know how I can survive losing him.

Boost or Ensure for protein. I've even learned to like it but I can still eat meat if I want.

No nuts or seeds! Even a single sunflower seed or a slice of whole grain bread can set my son's off for days. My sympathies to you for the pain after seeing how he suffers.

YMMV; As with cancer, every case is different. Spicy food doesn't bother him at all even though they warned him against it.

p.s. The caramel Boost tastes like Starbucks cappuccino in a bottle.

For those of us dealing with parents/relatives with dementia:

Here is a link that allows you to register for a free, on-line (via Zoom), workshop Sept 22 2022 8pm Eastern:
https://dementiasuccesspath.com/how-to- ... -ws-fb1-wm

The workshop is 90 minutes. There are also 2 pre-workshop sessions Sept 20 and 21 for 60 minutes, also 8pm Eastern.

And here is a list of youtube videos from Tippa Snow:
https://www.youtube.com/c/teepasnowvideos/search

Tippa Snow, who is running the workshop, has a web site with a lot of information: http://www.teepasnow.com

I haven't had much time to go through all this - my sister just sent it to me. But I thought I should share ASAP since the workshops are next week. (I've signed up.)

I know it's a bit late Pgirl, but I was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease and of course the HS is an inflammatory condition. Probably related.

I went with an anti-inflammatory diet: lots of veggies, very low carbs, oily fish (salmon, tuna, etc. mostly tuna), close to zero dairy, very little chicken. It's very similar to a med diet.

I occasionally have some beef or pork but it sure doesn't like me much. So, I'm learning what I can and cannot eat.

For the tuna, I do the chunk light in water. No white or albacore. Not enough Omega-3s. Or is it 6.... I keep forgetting and I'm too lazy to look it up.

Good luck. :bighug:

On the old Birther Report website, it had a feature for a short time where you could vote a post or reply up or down. The Obots took over and made all the birther posts unpopular, whereupon that feature of the site was quickly removed.
