Me too. The only downside is, what with Omicron and all, where would they find a hospital with room to house him long enough for her to get her shoe back.

If she ran, she would win, no doubt, but I don't get the idea that she has any iota of ambition towards elected office - ANY elected office. And the abuse she would receive to achieve this hypothetical elected office would be soul destroying.

I agree. She has made it absolutely clear that she has no political ambitions whatsoever. While she stepped up and embraced the role of First Lady as well and better than any other, and supported her husband all the way, I think she would have even preferred if he had not had the ambition to become president. She will never run for president.

Former President Barack Obama has tested positive for Covid-19, he announced on Sunday, adding that he’s “feeling fine” except for a scratchy throat. The 44th president said on Twitter that former first lady Michelle Obama had tested negative. He said both he and his wife were vaccinated and boosted. “It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down,” Obama said.

Covid cases have been on the decline in the U.S. since peaking in late January, when the highly contagious Omicron variant of the coronavirus gripped the nation. Still, with large swaths of the country refusing to get fully vaccinated, experts have warned that the virus isn’t going away fully. The Biden White House is planning to shift course, working toward a strategy in which the virus is endemic and does not disrupt daily life.

Obama is not the first of the six living presidents to announce he tested positive for the virus. Donald Trump was hospitalized for coronavirus in October 2020, when he was still in office. Obama has been vocal in urging Americans to get vaccinated and boosted since the shots became available, appearing in an advertisement last year with all other living former presidents — minus Trump — to encourage vaccination.

I met Ann in Bali. She was working with Bali women to promote their textiles. We were the only 2 people in an Ubud coffee restaurant during the rainy season. We kept looking at each other because we thought we knew each other. Our contact was likely from Honolulu. We chatted about raising children with a world view.

Wow, Lani, you never told us that before, how cool is that? I read A Singular Woman, she was an awesome lady on her own terms.

She had an unusual face. When Obama announced that he was running president, son & I were watching him on tv. Then pictures of his mom were shown. I said OMG that's the woman I met on Bali!!! Of course, he didn't believe me. Then I found an article about her work there - exactly when I was there.

Son always went with me to Bali, and we'd stay at least a month. We lived in a beautiful
little house on a Balinese family compound. He went to a multilingual, multi-cultural kindergarten while I walked from village to village to buy textiles for a Melbourne boutique. Thanks to Ann, I bought some great fabrics, and the boutique sent me a big surprise bonus. I still have a few of them, and I still love them.

Back then, Bali was very rural, safe and friendly. The rush of tourism had not yet arrived. Once it changed, we never returned.
