Re: Rest In Peace
I turned on the TV this morning and Star Trek The Next Generation was playing the episode Chain of Command part 2. This is the episode where David Warner as a Cardassian Gul tortures Captain Picard. In short, the episode is all about amazing performances from these two. The remaining parts were added just to give the rest of the cast something to do.

Oh, noooo! Bad enough that Barbara Billigsley died, because she was the archetype of the eternal mom. But when the kids on that show that I grew up with start to go, it makes me feel way more mortal...MN-Skeptic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 12:56 pm Tony Dow, Who Played Wally Cleaver on ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ Dies at 77

Re: Rest In Peace
I met him when he was doing the dinner theater circuit back in the late 80s. Most "big names" didn't mingle with us little folk, but of the few that did come up to say hi, he was one of the nicest.
(Barbara Billingsly also came up to say hi, different show. Just as beautiful then as she was on the tv show, and she was delightful.)

An absolute Australian legend.
ABC TV Video Report: Archie Roach, Aboriginal musician, songwriter and artist, dead at 66 after 'a remarkable life'
The Age Newspaper Report: Archie Roach’s music helped heal not just his own wounds, but those of countless others
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised this story contains the names and images of people who are now deceased. Archie Roach’s family has granted permission for the use of his name and images.
ARCHIE ROACH 1956-2022
The day that came to define Archie Roach occurred when he was only a few years old. This was around 1960, when government agencies forcibly took him and his siblings away from their parents.
In his autobiography, Tell Me Why, Roach recounts a memory that came back to him many years later of his screaming father being restrained by a policeman while the children were loaded into a large black car. That was the last time he saw his parents.

Another little taste of Uncle Archie Roach in a format you might recognize:
On my system, when the Karoke finishes, there is a beautiful tribute to Ruby Hunter - Uncle Archie's life partner. Well worth the time.

Re: Rest In Peace
Not only did she pave the way for Black actors and actresses in the early days post-Civil Rights Act, but after the series ended, she volunteered with NASA for nearly 40 years to generate interest in science and to encourage minorities to pursue careers in science and space exploration. That's really cool! Here she is only a few years ago.

Oh no. What a wonderful woman she was.
Re: Rest In Peace
We lived long and prospered together.
I shall have more to say about the trailblazing, incomparable Nichelle Nichols, who shared the bridge with us as Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise, and who passed today at age 89. For today, my heart is heavy, my eyes shining like the stars you now rest among, my dearest friend.
