After suggesting to right wing media yesterday that he may continue on from Alaska to Japan to attend his “great friend” Abe’s funeral, Trump has decided to fly home today. Shocker.

At that level of diplomacy one does not just show up to crash the party (it's not a MaL marriage reception). One gets invited thru the State Departement. And the Secret Service will have a word in the decision. Which sponsor did he expect to offer his airplane for international travel? There is a slight difference in cost as compared to crisscrossing the US. Also Japan still has strict covid entry rules. Pilots and other crew need prior approval, as their passengers.

I signed up for discovery+ for a free trial just to watch this. Waiting for all the election night parts. ugh they do these massive closeups of his face and he's orange as hell. The kids sure explain how much he's a horrible father and he never went to their sports games and did things on his schedule.

Over the weekend we were at a craft fair where there was a knife seller that had some really nice Damascus knives for good prices. Was just preparing to pull the trigger on one when I noticed his collection of "Let's Go Brandon" and "Trump 2024" themed knives for sale. Drats.

Does this apply to candidate Trump on J6 and his Eclipse speech?
Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969)
By James L. Walker

Clarence Brandenburg, 48, an officer in the Ku Klux Klan, left, and Richard Hanna, 21, admitted member of the American Nazi Party, pose for a picture following their arrests, Aug. 8, 1964, Cincinnati, Ohio. Brandenburg was arrested in connection with a KKK meeting in which he made anti-Semitic and anti-black statements and advocated for the possibility of "revengeance." The Supreme Court threw out his conviction and issued a new test: Advocacy could be punished only "where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." (AP Photo)

In Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969), the Supreme Court established that speech advocating illegal conduct is protected under the First Amendment unless the speech is likely to incite “imminent lawless action.”

I think Trump incited some “imminent lawless action.” legitimate political discourse.

Various scholars and pundits have opined on whether the January 6 speech sought to incite "imminent lawless action."

Unsurprisingly, there are differing opinions. But so far, the opinion of the first arbiter -- the U.S. Department of Justice -- is made clear through its inaction.

A rally scheduled for Friday in North Carolina featuring appearances by former President Trump and his family has been rescheduled, according to local reports.

News of the change of plans was first reported by the Raleigh News and Observer. A spokesperson for the American Freedom Tour, the organizers of the event, told a local Fox affiliate that the rally had been “postponed” and that a future date was “to be determined.”

The development comes as Trump and his adult children — Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka Trump — are scheduled to testify under oath on Friday as part of the investigation by the New York attorney general into the former president’s finances.

According to the News and Observer, the American Freedom Tour did not publicize that the rally was canceled, but quietly removed the event from its website. Tickets for the event reportedly sold for between $9 and $3,955.

What will the temp be in AZ on Saturday? Hopefully Trump will suffer from heat stroke.

My RWNJ sister will probably attend the rally. Or maybe she will be in her cool retreat in Pine, Az., from unbearable Scottsdale.

At some point Arizona will become unlivable and all the RWNJs there will have to make other plans.

It’s up north in Prescott Valley. But the wrong side of I17 for someone in Pine, maybe an hour and a half drive.

It’ll be 110 here Saturday (down from 115 yesterday,) so Prescott Valley will be about 20 lower, so 90ish.

Sen. Lindsey GRAHAM has filed to block the subpoena from the district attorney in Fulton County. His case has hit the docket in South Carolina federal court.
Some interesting chatter on that thread.
