I'm not sure that was an attempted robbery. That looks more like the dad was the target. But it's just a few chaotic seconds, so

It's not lit. It's there, but it's not being smoked.

Customer kills Atlanta Subway worker, injures another in argument over mayo, police say

An argument over mayonnaise at a Downtown Atlanta Subway ended with one worker dead and another in the hospital.
:snippity:
"Believe it or not, it was about too much mayonnaise on his sandwich," owner Willie Glenn said.

In this argument, police say the customer shot two Subway employees, leaving one woman dead and another rushed to surgery.
:snippity:
"One of the young ladies who was kiled today, her son was in the store. She had a young son that had to witness all of this," he said.

Glenn said the manager on duty returned fire at the suspect, but wasn't able to hit him.

Let’s not gloss over the fact that the manager at a Subway sandwich shop felt they needed to be armed. And they weren’t wrong.

1-year-old girl shot and killed by 8-year-old boy playing with father's gun in Florida motel room

An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed a 1-year-old girl and injured a 2-year-old girl at a Florida motel on Sunday, authorities said.

The boy's father left the gun holstered in his motel room closet at the the Lion's Motel in Pensacola. After he left the room, his son found it, "starts playing with it" and fired a round that passed through and killed the baby and struck the toddler, said Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons during a news conference Monday.

I put this one in weird headlines, but it could fit here as well. Chinese food delivery man shot and killed for not bringing enough duck sauce.

Toddler shot and killed. No longer an "accidental" shooting, I hope. Gunowner needs to be charged for manslaughter of whichever criminal statute applies.

Roderick Dwayne Randall, 45, is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of culpable negligence by storing a firearm within easy of a minor resulting in injuries, tampering with evidence and failure to store a firearm in a required manner.

He was arrested and later released on $41,000 bond.
I assume further charges can (and hopefully will) follow.

Friend just texted me about this in Illinois:

https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/hi ... -4-parade/
Gov. Pritzker: Up to nine people shot during Highland Park July 4 parade

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- Several gunshots sent people running for safety during the Highland Park July 4 parade on Monday. Gov. JB Pritzker said up to nine people had been shot.

One witness, Shawn Cotreau, said the shooter was on the roof of a business. He said he was only 10 feet from where shooting happened. He said the gunshots went on for several minutes.

Police and ambulances from several jurisdictions swarmed the area, with several officers carrying rifles. Video from the scene showed people being placed into ambulances.

The right is trying to make it about Chicago, but for context:

I'm seeing people try and say Highland Park is typical "Chicago".

Highland Park Illinois is where Michael Jordan lived.
It's where 16 Candles, Home Alone, Risky Business, and Ferris Bueller were filmed.

This is not "Chicago".
It's one of the wealthiest towns in America

When I think of all the parades that Mrs. V and I marched in during our marching band days, and how many our daughters marched in in their band days and before that with the girl scouts and on dance studio floats. Never once did it occur to me to be afraid of a possible shooting.

But here we are.
Parades are so vulnerable. All those kids going by like so many ducks in a shooting gallery.

I read that a number of other parades and events today were canceled after this was reported.
