Obama is also wearing a suit that doesn't look like he borrowed it from a 8 year old and it's just a little small.

According to Private Eye at the time, they weren't worried at all about Trump, as they had him pegged as a desperate suck up who would just be desperate to please and not cause any trouble. They were charmed by Melania, and were utterly mystified by Jarvanka.

I have no goddam idea what the hell he was wearing that outfit for. I'm sorry, I usually pop psychology it, but no way can I figure that out. Maybe he was wearing a waistcoat sized for a much taller man than he is? Nope, no clue.

I seem to recall reading on the old Fogbow that the consensus was that if he had worn a "regular" length waist coat, it would have exposed the bottom half of his jelly roll. Instead, he opted for that dog-awful look so he had an "eave" hanging over and hiding his pork belly.

To me it's one thing to make fun of someone's choices (like to be poorly dressed when they can afford not to be) vs. making fun of someone for things they can't help or that they likely struggle with (e.g., prominent Adam's apple, big nose, or weight, whether thin or fat).

I like making fun of Trump (not sorry) because every damn detail about the man can be explained as some kind of lie about who he knows he is compared to what he thinks he can fool you into thinking. The ridiculous thing on his head, the lifts in his shoes that make him look like a building very close to falling over, the baggy mess that look like sweatpants he wears with a suit jackets that look like he outgrew it three grades ago, the spray paint over the face with more bondo than a rusted out Buick and the fake teeth so bent in his mouth that he can't talk straight.

Are we sure he's not wearing a rubber mask?

All because he's so insecure about what he really is, the vanity practically begs fate to mock him. He's a caricature of a buffoon who was a fool plagued by idiocy.

I would think that a super billionaire might be able to afford custom-fitted suits that have the ability to de-emphasize the less than perfect feature (though the dark soul will always show through no matter the tailoring). My formal where may be less than ideal but I wear cheaper stuff and don't maintain it well but I am just a church musician (who hides everything under vestments) and a fundraising data analyst (who works from home and never meets with external clients even when at the office).

And to add on to what Gregg mentioned, I would be less likely to join in the mocking if he were less vain about everything and rude about everybody else.

TL;DR - Trump isn't loved or respected enough in the right way to be told by someone in a position to do so how bad his clothes look.

Longer version - For me, it is a deliberate or negligent slovenliness that is fair game. My late father was, charitably, a bit of a schlub. He came from a family of schlubs, so this was not isolated to him. But both he and his equally late brother, Charlie, were wise enough to marry women who (for all my mother's other faults, and all of the much much worse other faults of my uncle's widow) took them by the hand and taught them that even schlubs can learn to dress well, can afford decent styles, and can throw it all on with an attention to detail.

These were two middle-class Brooklyn boys. One (my dad) was a CPA who wore jeans only on the weekend, and even then with a polo shirt; the one picture of him from my childhood (he passed a week before my 13th birthday) wearing shorts on a tennis court on vacation at Marco Island is still referred to in family-and-friends lore as "that one time Marty wore shorts". He internalized the lesson that looking good made him feel good, and even when he was undergoing chemo for the leukemia, he tried to look his best. A few months before he died, we went to his favorite Chinese restaurant in Hollywood, Florida, and was dapper with his bald head and a surgical mask and ... a button down shirt and work slacks with a sports jacket; the lack of tie was his only concession to his illness and treatment. My Uncle Charles was not as rigid, but was still a suit-wearing regional exec for ConEd.

Somewhere along the line, perhaps because never cared enough about him to take him by the hand and teach him these things, Trump never learned the lesson about how to not to dress slovenly. He never had anyone care enough to say "That outfit doesn't work for you; try this."

I say this as someone who has only half-learned that lesson myself; but as someone who is fortunate enough to work in IT where the dress code is usually kakhis and a polo. I do, however, change into shorts or jeans as soon as I get home at night; sorry, Dad. :)
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Now it's 20,000.
Our rating: False

Based on our research, we rate FALSE the claim that Pelosi rejected Trump's request for 10,000 National Guard troops to be deployed before Jan. 6. Pelosi's office said the speaker was not contacted about deploying the National Guard prior to the rally, and the Pentagon has previously stated that there is no record of the request. A timeline from the Department of Defense about the events leading up to Jan. 6 does not include any mention of a request for 10,000 National Guard members. The former House sergeant-at-arms said he did not have any discussions with congressional leaders about the National Guard until the day of the riot.

Besides, anyone who was ever in the military knows that the President can give the National Guard orders, a Governor can give the National Guard in his state orders but there is no provision for anyone in Congress to give anyone at the Pentagon or otherwise in uniform orders.

It’s actually quite simple: one dresses nicely out of respect for other people.

Biden cites cost and delay in grounding Trump redesign for Air Force One

...Politico first reported that the Air Force study of the new paint job had concluded that the dark shade of blue Trump proposed for the plane’s underbelly and engines would have created heating issues for the aircraft, requiring costly redesigns and additional delays to the already behind-schedule program. The current generation of planes first carried President George H.W. Bush.

The talk about the heating as being an issue with the redesign that would make it cost more. I do wonder if some in the Air Force are considered with the visible signature a dark blue bottom would give off during daylight flights. Light blue tends to blend in with the sky better.

ETA: Too, also, the Trump design has the President disembarking in front of the dark red and dark blue sections of the plane. Unless they all started doing the tan suit thing and stopped wearing dark suits, the President would not show up well when getting off the plane. I don't think Jackie considered the possible security benefits of the lighter blues, but I would not be surprised if the visual contrast was a consideration.
