She's been censured once already by the State Senate for her white nationalist tropes. Didn't seem to stop her. Maybe they can find a stronger method now.

And now, Orange County.
https://www.latimes.com/california/stor ... eriff-says
One person was killed and four others were critically wounded Sunday during a shooting at a church in Laguna Woods.

The shooting occurred at the 1:26 p.m. at Geneva Presbyterian Church on the 24000 block of El Toro Road. The sheriff’s department said it detained a suspect and collected a weapon that might be involved.

Orange County Fire Authority said it was on the scene treating victims and taking multiple patients to hospitals.

:snippity:

All victims were adults, the sheriff said. The motive was unclear.

Doubtful. She is much closer to the mainstream GOP than is comfortable.

Here she is *last night* with the GOP frontrunner for Governor.

I think she meant exactly what most people assumed she meant.

She was surprised by the pushback and hurried to change the subject to the media and Democrats persecuting her.

Motive?!?!?! Fuck the motive. It's guns. 201 mass shootings so far this year. Oops. 202 now, I see. Lawn darts...a couple of people died and they were taken off the market. Sure, those were tragic deaths. Two babies died from formula and the entire factory was shut down. Tragic, for sure. Horrible things are happening. But it isn't abortion. It isn't voter fraud. But 202 mass shootings, and a whole fucking bunch of other shit, and we can't do anything about the gun culture. Not even reasonable universal background checks.

We really are fucked. Big time. I can go live in Panama or Patagonia again where there is corruption. But I didn't have to see this horrible scene play out or worry about going to the goddamed grocery store. :oldlady:

Listening to conservative radio in the aftermath is infuriating, as always. To hear them, the only solution is 50-state concealed carry and encouragement/incentives for more "good guys" to carry guns.

This is my favorite right-wing excuse not to debate reforming our gun laws...
After every mass shooting, far too many politicians wring their hands, shake their heads about the loss of life, and send out their “thoughts and prayers.” Many of them don’t do a whole lot beyond that. I should know. I’ve been on the receiving end of those thoughts and prayers for almost five years now, after losing my best friend Drew Leinonen at the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando on June 12, 2016.

I’ve heard every version of it too:

It’s too soon—let the families mourn.

It’s too soon—we don’t know the motive yet.

It’s too soon—the FBI needs to assess the situation.

It’s too soon—with a litany of other excuses to continue doing nothing.

We as a nation have had to endure mass gun violence twice within six days. First in Atlanta at Asian-owned spas, and then in Boulder at a grocery store, specifically a King Soopers, which is the grocery chain I visit to buy my own food. My local King Soopers in Denver was one of the places I found the most difficult to go to following the Pulse shooting. I spent a few months unable to go into big, enclosed spaces alone for fear that I would meet a similarly tragic fate. :snippity:

Buffalo mass shooting: 911 dispatcher on leave after allegedly hanging up on Tops supermarket employee

A Tops supermarket employee who survived the Buffalo, New York, mass shooting on Saturday alleged that a 911 dispatcher hung up on her while she was trying to get help, according to local reports.

The dispatcher has been placed on administrative leave "pending a disciplinary hearing" that is expected to happen during the week of May 30, when "termination will be sought," Erie County office of the Executive press secretary Peter Anderson told Fox News Digital.
:snippity:
"I tried to call 911, and I was whispering because I could hear him close by," Latisha told the outlet. "And when I whispered on the phone to 911, the dispatcher started yelling at me, saying, 'Why are you whispering? You don't have to whisper.' And I'm trying to tell her, like, 'Ma'am, he's in the store. He's shooting. It's an active shooter. I'm scared for my life.' And she said something crazy to me, and then she hung up in my face. And I had to call my boyfriend to call 911."
