Excellent point noblepa, which is why I limited my comment to, "They looked frightened and anxious in that photo." without speculating as to the reason(s) for their obvious apprehension. They may have been uncomfortable in front of the cameras with Jr telling them to stop fidgeting and smile like daddy.
Without re-reading everything, I think most of us commented the children look uncomfortable without saying why. That tugging at the clothes (and as added skin pinching) say anxiety or fear to me. Can’t know the cause.

I tried to be careful in my initial post regarding the kids' fear and anxiety as exhibited in the photo. I should have quoted the last sentence of noblepa's post before posting my agreement.
I don't believe that either of my posts gave the indication that I thought anyone in the boogle had gone too far. My intention in the second comment was merely to say that I tried to choose my words carefully.

If you Google Donald Trump Jr and children, there are mostly flattering photos on the internet of him with his kids. I wouldn’t be surprised if this photo wasn’t taken when the children were getting tired and hungry and had had enough of dealing with grownups.

When I saw the vid he made the other day, I thought it was very sad.
I just thought, doesn't he have anyone in his life to tell him, "No, Don, you can't put that on the internet, they'll use it against you until the day you die"?
I have ol' Wifehorn to keep me from going off the deep end like that. My boys would never let me hear the end of it. I still haven't completely recovered from the vid I made with the hammer and sickle hat, and I have no political aspirations.
Don Jr. would like to run for office someday, I think. But if I were his opponent, I'd just play that over and over. He'd be brunt toast.

re the T guy with kids. My impression - the parents had a big quarrel, the kids got frightened and daddy thinks its a good idea to make good with a photo. But then - who shot the picture?

Yeah, something like that occurred to me as well.
In addition to not knowing the context of the photo, we also don't know who released it/posted it on the internet. If Jr. had seen it, he might have realized that it is not a flattering picture and not released it. OTOH, it could have been a press photographer or someone who had an axe to grind with Jr. or the Trump family.

I'm sure there are no pictures of any of us that look like we're miserable. If they existed I'm sure they'd never be posted on the internet. If they were posted and we were famous, I'm sure no one would be speculating why we looked unhappy.
Not every picture tells the overall truth.

The Trump Org Stiffed a Hotel. His Kids May Pay the Price. The D.C. attorney general wants to drag the Trump Organization back into a lawsuit. His evidence? An unpaid $49,000 hotel bill.

Former President Donald Trump and his family company have a long history of stiffing contractors, but there’s one bill they almost certainly wish they had paid.
Ahead of the 2017 presidential inauguration, the Trump Organization reserved a block of rooms at the Loews Madison Hotel. When at least 13 people didn’t show up, the Trump Organization refused to pay the bill, something it has done many times in the past. The company then dodged a credit collection agency and eventually squirmed out of it by pushing the $49,358 bill off to the nonprofit presidential inaugural committee, the PIC.
That dodged payment is now the crux of the attorney general for the District of Columbia’s latest effort to put the Trump Organization back in its crosshairs in an ongoing investigation into how the Trump kids used the Presidential Inauguration Committee to throw lavish parties of their own.
“It was their friends. It should never have been sent to the PIC. That’s misuse of funding. The Trump Organization being involved in any way and getting the PIC to pay any sort of balance anywhere on their behalf? It just doesn’t seem legitimate,” said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who coordinated inaugural events and is now the government’s lead witness in this case.
