It includes the few seconds that happened before the fight which makes it seem like it started with 2 women who were at the microphone, and its unclear but one may have made spitting motions at the other. I dunno why the twitter guy cut that out as it seems to have been the true start of the fight.

According to Cavin (the guy who hit the big guy), it was all about one woman insulting another about a nose ring and then Cavin thinking the big guy was attempting to physically intimidate the insulting lady who was walking back to her seat (he was looking the part). I don't know how much to trust Cavin because he appears to be a professional s***stirrer.

Glad the whole ruckas was over highly important political and national questions.

I mean, I left the Libertarian Party and am now NPA but mostly vote Democrat (except for a few hyperlocal GOP candidates I know either personally or through friends and can trust in local roles). Do I cancel out The Dersh? If it helps, I am also of the Joobish persuasion.

Her ruling states that the summary of the proposed amendment that legislative leaders wrote "does not fairly and accurately 'summarize' the issue to be decided to assure a free, intelligent and informed vote by the average citizen." She said the summary omits any reference to the actual text of the amendment that allows lawmakers to overrule or amend any ballot initiative passed by the people — including those that amend or reform the government, which the state Supreme Court recently ruled is a clear constitutional right afforded Utahns.

Former treasurer candidate charged

The former Republican candidate for Quay County treasurer and former deputy treasurer was charged Friday with two felonies and jailed after being accused of altering county records so a property she owned wouldn't be placed in a state delinquent-tax list.


A no-bond arrest warrant was issued shortly after noon Friday for Albenita Rene Rael, 50, of Tucumcari after she was charged with tampering with public records and fraud, both felonies. She was booked into the Quay County Detention Center later that afternoon.

Rael's first court appearance with Magistrate Judge Noreen Hendrick was scheduled for Sept. 24, after the Quay County Sun's deadline. Rael was granted her request for a public defender due to indigency.

Both charges are fourth-degree felonies that can lead up to 18 months in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, Rael tampered with county records between June 27 and July 8 to keep a property she owned off a delinquent tax list. The fraud count alleges her misrepresentation involved a total of $582.54 in back taxes and fines on the tract.


It initially was reported that Rael had resigned as county deputy treasurer on July 23 and withdrew her candidacy for county treasurer on July 24.

She told the Quay County Sun at the time she stepped down for personal reasons.

House Democrats immediately tried to reprimand GOP Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana from the floor of the chamber on Wednesday over a since deleted social media post calling Haitian migrants “thugs” and “slapstick gangsters” who needed to get “their a** out of our country.”

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford of Nevada, called on the House Committee on Ethics to investigate what Higgins posted on X and pushed for the House to censure Higgins over his comments, a significant rebuke of a member of Congress. Higgins told CNN he did not regret his comments.

But GOP Rep. Jay Obernolte of California, who was overseeing the floor for Republicans at the time, told Horsford the matter could not be pursued immediately given the House had finished voting for the month.

Prior to his public comments, Horsford confronted Higgins on the floor and the two men had a heated exchange, according to sources who witnessed the interaction. Horsford told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday night that he had asked Higgins to delete the post, to which Higgins replied that he would pray about it.

Horsford said he told Higgins, “If you refuse, I will take this to the floor. We will move for a resolution to censure you.”

Despite the backlash and ultimate decision to take down the post after he said he prayed on it, Higgins told CNN he stood by his demeaning comments.
