I am assuming that the thing in Philly that just happened is not going to be good for Joe. Even if the (already coming) accusations that this was a Deep State attack don't stick, I think the political blowback will be heavy unless it can be proven this guy truly was a lone wolf (or a false flag). Anyone think otherwise?

The FBI have identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park. He is a registered Republican

The fact that he is apparently a registered Republican will hopefully make it harder for them to blame those nasty liberal Democrats. Or not.

I know it says something about me that I'm glad for this news, but I thank you both with all my heart. I'm literally about to shut down, pack up, and start about 32 hours of total travel time to leave my current assignment and PCS back to the U.S. for training, home leave, and my new gig, and this was the thing that was going to make me sit for 3 hours at a time at 3 separate airports, with about 23 hours of total air time from my current location through two transit hubs and back to D.C., and with heartburn the whole way.

I'll check in with you all again on the flip side -- sooner if airport power outlets and wifi are amenable.

Yeah, it looks like this guy is a single white male registered Republican, which will contain some of the insanity. He missed, which is unpossible.

On the bright side, maybe this will make the quadfectee even more unhinged for the convention mañana.

He may be a registered Republican, but there's a lot of Republicans that don't like trump. Apparently he once gave a whopping $15 to a progressive PAC so that's enough to condemn all the left of centerites.

They don't care if there's an R behind your name. If you're not on your knees servicing the OSG, you belong in Gitmo. Or worse.

So far, nobody is talking about this, at least within my earshot and in English. But in fairness, there were only two of us in the 8 total seats of the business class section of my first flight, and nobody sitting within 10 feet of me in either lounge either at my departure or at my current layover.

So it could be said I'm not trying very hard to ask the common person on the street. But I still have 90 minutes to kill before boarding the next flight and this particular business class lounge is boring (the snacks were good, though, I must confess). So I may wander to a newsstand kiosk and see what's on the headlines of the international papers here. And I will do the same on my next layover, in about 8 or 9 hours.

Here's hoping the next couple of legs of your journey are as relaxed as the first seems to be! I've had enough worry this month about someone traveling internationally and I don't want to add you to that list. (It was more concern for safety than politics.)
