Cable news’s on-screen graphics — known as chyrons — were originally designed to highlight the latest news to viewers in a concise way. But on Tuesday night, Fox News viewers got one that was unusually politically charged.
Just before 9 p.m., the network split the screen to present comments from President Biden at the White House simultaneously with Donald Trump’s combative remarks after pleading not guilty to federal charges of illegally retaining classified documents.
The initial chyron was straightforward: “Trump Responds to Unprecedented Federal Indictment.” Later, picking up on a theme of his speech: “Trump: This is a Political Persecution.”
But then came a chyron that was startling even for the conservative network during its raucously opinionated prime-time hours: “Wannabe Dictator Speaks at the White House After Having His Political Rival Arrested.”
The chyron appeared at the end of an hour guest-hosted by “Fox & Friends” personality Brian Kilmeade, one of several interim hosts filling the slot vacated by fired former Fox star Tucker Carlson.
On Wednesday afternoon, a Fox News spokesperson told The Washington Post that “the chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed.”
On Brian Kilmeade's radio show this morning I learned the following alternate "facts":
The Mueller report details crimes done against tfg, and it is a mystery why no one was charged for these crimes against tfg that the Mueller report details.
Durham also detailed many offenses done against tfg, which have also not been charged, inexplicably.
tfg told the FBI to come and get whatever they wanted, instead they chose to not take him up on his offer and raid Mar-a-Lago.
The Mar-a-Lago raid happened at an "ungodly" hour. (It was 9am.)
The FBI refused to let anyone supervise the raid because they were busy planting documents and didn't want to get caught.
The FBI knocked over boxes, spilling their contents to the floor and mixing in confidential documents, pretending that they found them that way.
Joe Biden has been proven to have been stealing documents for over thirty years and was never treated like tfg.

Former Fox News producer Alexander McCaskill, who parted ways with the network for airing the "wannabe dictator" chyron, posted this photo of him leaving Fox offices on his Instagram.
McCaskill was also a longtime producer/editor for Tucker Carlson.

Tucker Carlson’s former producer at Fox News is out at the conservative network after a caption aired calling President Joe Biden a “wannabe dictator.”
The employee, identified by the Daily Beast as former “Tucker Carlson Tonight” managing editor Alexander McCaskill, resigned, Carlson said on his Twitter show Thursday.
The Daily Beast confirmed the parting with two sources, while Carlson offered his version.
“First they scolded the producer who put the banner on the screen,” Carlson said. “Less than 24 hours after that, he resigned. He had been at Fox for more than a decade. He was considered one of the most capable people in the building. He offered to stay for the customary two weeks, but Fox told him to clear out his desk and leave immediately.”
On Tuesday, “Fox News Tonight” showed a banner under side-by-side images of Biden and Donald Trump that read, “Wannabe Dictator Speaks at the White House After Having His Political Rival Arrested.”

I thought Fox would just show Jordan and Durham lying and fudging, but they wouldn't show a minute of the Democrats pounding Durham into a thin gruel.
Ol' Wifehorn thinks Murdoch might be turning a corner. But I remember all the times that Trump was finally turning a corner in 2016 (Narrator: Trump never turned the corner into responsible, or even rational, speech).
