Lawsuit challenging Marjorie Taylor Greene reelection can proceed, judge rules

A lawsuit seeking to block Republican representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from seeking reelection, alleging she is unfit for office because of her support of rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol, can proceed, a federal judge ruled Monday.

In a legal challenge filed with the Georgia Secretary of State, a group of voters claimed Greene violated a provision of the U.S. Constitution passed after the U.S. Civil War known as the "Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause."

Judge Amy Totenberg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia wrote in a 73-page ruling on the injunction that the court focused on whether Greene could "establish a strong likelihood of prevailing on the merits of her legal claims."

Greene had failed "to establish a substantial likelihood of success on the merits," Totenberg wrote.

In her latest FEC filing it was revealed she had spent $10k on a retainer for John Eastman. Don't know if it is related to this challenge or some other nefarious plan, but interesting none-the-less.

And the Republican members of the committee will lob softball questions to her. Or they will ask questions the allow her to demonstrate her stupidity. I can imagine a question like "Do you approve of mask mandates?"

I've been looking around for a good feed, as a lot of them have terrible volume. c-span is good.

This is surreal.

Just seeing this creature who has been savaging people across the country without restraint facing a situation in which she has to follow a few rules is bizarre.

But I fear the judge is going to disallow a lot of what the Free Speech for the People wants to establish.

Technical hitch break. Some thoughts:

MTG is trying to give what-about answers to questions like "Would you agree that trying to interfere with congressional proceedings is a crime?" She goes with, "Well I'll tell you what's a crime."

Twice now she's gotten away with such an answer by dumb luck. The lawyer q'ing her, whose name I haven't found yet, tries to make the point that she's giving speeches, but both times the judge got sidetracked (the second time by the tech issue that's causing the current break). He will pin her down if he gets a damned chance. He's very good, IMO.

In the few minutes she has testified, she as agreed that she didn't think Biden won, though it took a while to get her there.

MTG tries to deny that the called Pelosi a traitor, presented with CNN article quoting her as saying her usual hate. Judge makes her answer. Finally.

MTG denies that she ever called for any violence whatsoever. Lawyer now getting into examples on Twitter.

MTG denies she liked posts that she liked a tweet calling for a bullet to the head of Pelosi. Says it could have been anyone. After stating that she approved all tweets on her account.
