But that's totally okay because he's letting his two failed DNA samples run the company.

I see the argument but really, I can't see a person who wants French wine settling for Trump. It's not like Trump offers a cheaper alternate wine. It's Bordeaux vs. swill. Nobody's going to say "Oh well, better get this crap."

The very niche market of people who like Napoleon Boone's Farm Strawberry Brie Hill, mixed with Welch's Grape Soda could logically switch.

Nooo, it wasn't for me. Rum limeade daiquiris or beer. I am embarrassed to reveal I had no taste for wine 40+ years ago unless it was bubbly.

Apple asks Trump administration to exclude Mac Pro parts from tariffs
Company has filed exclusion requests

By Colin Lecher@colinlecher Jul 23, 2019, 2:43pm EDT

Apple filed a series of exemption requests with the Office of the US Trade Representative (first made public on July 18th), asking that the government exempt a series of specific products from a proposed 25 percent tariff on goods imported from China. The tariffs have not yet been fully implemented, but the plan would include electronics, which could severely affect the bottom line of tech companies like Apple.

REQUESTS EXCLUSIONS FOR SEVERAL PARTS

The documents don’t directly mention the Mac Pro, but Bloomberg notes that the parts described appear to be designed for the desktop computer. The listed parts include a CPU heatsink, a graphics processing module, and a computer frame and enclosure. Apple is also asking for the exclusion of some of its accessories, including the Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2.

The Mac Pro was the last Apple device assembled in the US, but in June, The Wall Street Journal reported that the company planned to move manufacturing to China. Apple’s request will now enter a public comment period before the agency decides on whether to grant the exclusions.

The economic Stable Genius at work again
Trump says Apple won't get tariff relief for Mac Pro parts made in China
"Make them in the USA," the president tweeted.

President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that Apple won't get tariff relief for Mac Pro parts built in China, and urged the company instead to make its computers in America.

"Apple will not be given Tariff wavers, or relief, for Mac Pro parts that are made in China," the president tweeted. "Make them in the USA, no Tariffs!"

Later Friday, Trump told reporters that Apple CEO Tim Cook may end up manufacturing in Texas.

"A man I have a lot of liking for and respect is Tim Cook, and we'll work it out. I think they're going to announce they're going to build a plant in Texas. And if they do that, I'm starting to get very happy," Trump said at the White House, according to Reuters.

I was going to write a rant/analysis of why tariffs on French wine would probably yield minimal results compared to taxing Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon, but I am sure this idiocy will soon fade from the Demented Orange Baboon's peabrain...
Trump's threat to tax French wines labelled 'completely moronic'

“American wine is not better than French wine,” he added.

Trump says US will impose 10% tariffs on another $300 billion of Chinese goods starting Sept.1
The surprise tariff announcement came after the U.S. and China restarted trade talks in Shanghai this week, the first in-person trade talks since a G-20 truce. The White House said on Wednesday before this Trump tweet the meetings were “constructive,” adding that China confirmed their commitment to increase purchases of U.S. agricultural exports. Trade negotiations will continue in Washington in early September, according to the White House statement.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 200 points following the news, erasing the 300-point gains earlier in the day.

Wow, we started putting more into cash a while ago. We accelerated that significantly after the Russians installed Trump. You might think about re-balancing that portfolio.

I bet his trade talk delegation was not informed ahead of this announcement and was left with empty hands to explain to the Chinese delegation why this should happen when they just had started to sit together. If the Cinese want to play hard, they will tell the Americans to go home and coordinate their strategy and phone back with new propositions prior to a next meeting :brickwallsmall:
