“We Build the Wall” Completes First Half Mile of US Border Wall in 4 Days from Private Donations
Jim Hoft by Jim Hoft May 27, 2019 963 Comments
It’s happening!

For months the liberal media mocked “We Build the Wall” founder and organizer Brian Kolfage and his plan to use private donations to help build the much-needed security wall between the US and Mexico. Brian raised over $20 million in private donations from over 260,000 individuals to build a border wall on the US southern border.

In January Brian announced the “We Build the Wall” leadership board that includes: Erik Prince, Kris Kobach, Angel Mom Mary Ann Mendoza, Sheriff David Clarke, former Rep. Tom Tancredo and others.

This Memorial Day Weekend the “We Build the Wall” organization built their first half mile of border wall near El Paso, Texas.

The Gateway Pundit spoke with Brian Kolfage on Sunday. Brian told us, “At the beginning everyone said you can’t do this. It’s impossible. You just can’t do this. And I think that just drove us forward even harder to get the project done. That’s what this country is all about, coming together and pooling our resources and getting the job done in a time of crisis. And we are in a crisis.”

Brian, a war veteran and triple amputee added, “We wanted to prove to the American people that in a time of need we can come together like we used to and get things done that are big. And I think we’re at a time where we realize that our government and politicians aren’t representing the people.”

Brian told us about organizing this project, “We threw like 15 people together and we just built an international border wall. So I think this sticks the thumb in everyone’s eye who said we couldn’t do it. They said nasty things about me, about my family, and that we were scammers. We proved them wrong. And this is just the first segment. From start to finish, from the time we found the property to the time we built the wall was 57 days. 57 days! We got a contractor, we got a plan, and we implemented it over the weekend and got this wall built!”

Brian and former Kansas State Secretary of State Kris Kobach are on the border this weekend as this section of the wall goes up.

That wall appears to be just sitting on the ground, with no significant part of it buried. Expect many holes under it to appear shortly.

Yeah, it seems they have about a depth of three to four feet with a minor thin cement foundation poured over the slabs and a metal mesh of sorts. The real Trump wall was to have a foundation of some ten feet deep at least that noone can dig thru too easy. But our selfmade border barrier building clowns will see the cartels building Vietcong style tunnel systems under this playground.

I'd really like to see them come back to start the next section in about a month and find it all gone, with nothing left on the site but a "prayer rug", empty water jug and some taco wrappers. :eek2:

Any bets they built that half-mile for $2M and kept the other $18M?

Let's see, 2,000 miles of wall...

4,000 sections X 57 days/section = 228,000 days / 365 = 624.6 years

By then we'll be split from the United States to North Mexico and South Canada.

SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico—We Build the Wall, a privately funded effort to build a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, was told to stop building on Tuesday.

The cease-and-desist order represents a new obstacle for the group and its founder, triple-amputee veteran Brian Kolfage. Kolfage’s crowdfunding effort became a cause célèbre on the right last December, when he rapidly raised $20 million on GoFundMe for the wall. So far they have built less than a half-mile of fence on the border over the weekend.

Yeah, nobody saw that coming. We were all confident they had all their ducks in a row.

KTSM: Privately-built border fence did not have permit, Sunland Park officials say:
The Sunland Park Mayor said the privately-funded border barrier was built in violation of city ordinance and a cease and desist has been issued.

The city was first notified about it on Thursday and tried to inspect the wall, but was denied access. On Friday, the brick company picked up an application which is incomplete, Mayor Javier Perea said.

Aside from plans and other documents not being available, the structure is also taller than city ordinance allows.

* * *

Sunland Park city officials confirmed the property where the fence is being built is within their city limits. They also said no permit was issued for the construction, but that American Eagle officials "did pick up the application".
That was my first thought as well: there's no way a permit would have been issued, so it must be renegade. (With a chaser of "Permits??!? WE'RE DOING IT FOR AMURICA!!!!!")

In theory, yes (depending on how much the land owner, George Cudahy, wants to play chicken with City Hall).

But the Build the Wall folks said their plan was to sell the land to the feds once the wall was built. A quick sale to the feds (or some creative eminent domain action) could pre-empt the local jurisdiction's enforcement powers.

Regardless of the exact journey, they'll be in court soon.

But P.S.: Send money.

He was getting a lot of support on Twitter, but I didn't have a chance to see how many of those were accounts with a handful of followers, one of the easy-to-spot signs of bots.
