Afghanistan! Pull out the last remaining troops and leave the Afghan government at the mercy of the Taliban. Cadet Bone Spurs repeating the Vietnam history, of course he does not remember the Fall Of Saigon on 30 April 1975.

British general rebuked as US orders all ‘non‑emergency’ staff home from Iraq
Catherine Philp, Diplomatic Correspondent
May 15 2019, 12:00pm, The Times

The Trump administration rushed additional military assets to the Middle East last week in response to what it said were “credible threats” from Iranian forces

Britain’s top general in Iraq earned a rare public rebuke from the Pentagon after he dismissed US warnings about the alleged Iranian threat to troops in the Middle East.

Major-General Chris Ghika, the deputy commander of the US coalition fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, told Pentagon reporters that there was no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces, contrasting Washington’s official narrative.

The Trump administration rushed additional military assets to the region last week in response to what it said were “credible threats” from Iranian forces. Israeli media reported that the warnings were passed on by Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency.

“No, there’s been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria,” Major-General Ghika told reporters in a video conference from coalition headquarters.

This 'emergency' isn't gaining the support that President Cheney managed with Iraq. I think they need to hire better PR consultants and screenwriters.

Reuters: Trump took out 30-year loan on $18.5 million home in 2018:
U.S. President Donald Trump took out a new 30-year mortgage on a sprawling oceanfront house steps from his own Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, and it is sitting empty on the rental market, according to financial disclosures made public on Thursday by the Office of Government Ethics.

The $18.5 million West Palm Beach mansion was purchased in May 2018 from one of Trump’s older sisters and was secured with an $11.2 million mortgage that has a 4.5% interest rate, Florida public records show.

Trump disclosed the loan as a liability in financial disclosure forms filed this week.

* * *

The Palm Beach Daily News reported that the president’s two adult sons, Eric and Don Jr., who are running his business while he is in office, bought the more than 10,000-square-foot (930-square-meter) house last year from Maryanne Trump Barry, a former federal judge.

Trump reported that his income from his multitude of business operations remained largely flat, with some of his resort and golf clubs doing better and others producing less income for him.

A handful of companies, however, did cease operation.

One of the biggest drops was for Trump Productions LLC, the production company that oversaw his television show The Apprentice. In 2017, Trump reported $2 million in income from the company but only about $280,000 in 2018.

Trump Model Management, which is described as a modeling agency, shuttered entirely. He reported about $715,000 from the agency in 2017 and only $547 in “residual” income.

I've seen several photos showing the triangular device as seen in this screen shot just out on the desk from Trump's left hand. His iPhone is just off from his right hand side. What the hell is that little device I wonder? Anyone know what that is?

I am not sure, but here is a different shot/angle of it. It's wireless.

It looks like a remote control for some kind of smart board or document projector. Here's a similar one:

I thought that, but no visible speaker. -- and I don't think an intercom/speakerphone would work well with in an aircraft noise environment.

No, it's not an internet hot spot -- AF1 has wifi throughout (although the press pool doesn't get access to it).

My best guess is an environmental control (thermostat - heating/cooling) wireless remote. It doesn't look like new tech. And given our President's *cough* perfect health, it would not surprise me if he would keep that control on the desk for frequent access instead of in a drawer (it doesn't appear in any photos I've seen from the Obama years)

In this photo of Obama, it looks like the same gadget sitting on the credenza behind him, next to the box of Kleenex.
