Yesterday evening we attended a comedy night at the nearby farm brewery which has an open high tented beer garden.

Two standup comedians from NYC performed.

We were surprised to learn that NYC now has Jewish comedians.

Only 32 of us in the audience at $13 each on a chilly Wednesday evening.

Our son in law has just left on his drive back to Texas leaving early to try to get thru NYC before the traffic becomes gridlocked.

South Fork-

The Town of Southampton has purchased 4.5 acres of land adjacent to the Shinnecock Indian Nation's reservation.

Those 4.5 acres are the site of an ancient Shinnecock burial ground. The town will remove a building on the site and retire the development rights so that nothing can ever again be built there.

The Shinnecocks are ecstatic.

This beach is a 4 mile drive from our cottage. The road to the beach ends in a boat launching ramp. Easy to drive into the water. The water gets several feet deep quite close to the ramp.

We just finished our homeowners association annual meeting.

Now very heavy rain is falling. So far this season our holiday weekends have been rainy.

Mostly our meetings are calm. Biggest issues are tree trimming and dirt road grading.

Dues raised this year to $250 a year to cover removal of a few dying trees.

Joint Circle cleanup day moved from July 10th to 17th.

I was reelected to another term as treasurer by acclamation. (Anyone who objected would have risked being elected in my stead and the treasurer actually has work to do. )

WLNG Oldies 92 reporting on the coming tropical storm. Worst conditions here will be from midnight to 6 AM tomorrow.

Here the watch has been upgraded to a warning.

WLNG mentioned in passing that the storm is affecting much of the US east coast away from the North Fork.

Based on the forecast track of the storm the worst conditions on Long Island will be here on the east end. Seven foot waves and 40 mph winds.

On the plus side the storm will be followed by a beautiful weekend.

Just in case the storm isn't wet enough we are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 PM.

Moderate rain now. Winds light. Center of storm at Atlantic City NJ.

Despite rain our lawn sprinkler is running.

Got much more windy for a while. Now heavy rain.

While sitting out on the porch just now saw an 811 truck on the Circle with blinking yellow lights. It left. Then a blue town water department truck arrived and a guy got out and worked on one of the water connections in the Circle for a while.

Poor guy needed more than the short rain coat he had on.

WLNG is reporting power outages on the South Fork.

Some roads closed due to flooding on both Forks.

The eye of the storm is 25 miles away to the southwest so the highest winds are yet to come.
