We made it! What a blessed relief to open up the Fogbow and see a board index free from OSG topics.

ETA I’m one of the mods. Y’all are a largely self-policing boogle so I mostly do clean ups in the aisles if’n a troll or spambots sneak through. I’m a Left Coaster currently living in Pomona. I’m up late for all your moderation needs.

I’ve had a devastating year in terms of the animals I care for - hawks, bobcats, and coyotes have taken 12 chickens and 2 of four cats (my favorites of course). That’s ok, Sugar Magnolia and the pandemic introduced me to quilting and I no longer have time for anything else. 😁

(Am I still green? I may have lost my job...)

I’ve lost the thread. (Yeah, the story of my life.) what did we rename the ‘We Haven’t Disappeared…’ thread?

We’re traveling. Currently in the Eastern Sierras heading for Grass Pants OR. The mr is going on a 4 day rafting trip on the Rogue River. I opted out, after much anguish. I’ll stay at my sister’s
Motel and visit, sleep, read. Like, a real vacation.

I love waking up on the River. But this trip, all nights will be at lodges. Rafting is hard werk, very physical, tough on the body. I’m creaking and groaning in my joints and currently have a bum knee. So I’m not going. It was a tough decision.

Bummer, Maybenaut. Jordan Fabrics is pickup only 😢.

We’re also scouting retirement places. :o

This is also our anniversary trip. Thirty fucking years, I can’t believe it. Next month.

We rarely do only one thing at a time.

Happy Anniversary Trip! I didnt raft at 20, 30, 40, or 50. Not my thing to shoot down a river, screaming with strangers as companions. Books, and relaxation seems just right.

You should consider the Ridge and Valley section of the Appalachian Mountains. Just sayin’.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish this post. Once I’m done I’m going to mostly lurk for awhile. I’ll let you know when I’m back.

We had a lovely trip. We got home at around 11am Friday. At 3am Saturday morning the phone rang. Three am calls are never good; this one was the worst.

My 31 year old nephew Ash, my sister’s son, died at 11:15 Friday nite. An official cause of death hasn’t been announced yet, but it was a heroin overdose. He had That Gene from his father.

The bitch of it is, he was in such a good place lately. He had a new girlfriend, a new solo album coming out in July, he was HAPPY.

We are all in shock, but not surprised. The shock is starting to wear off though and I’m feeling pretty bad. I don’t want to be mad at him, but I think I am, just a little. I also know the pain he was in, so it’s just a little. I’ll get over that selfish thought.

This baby, with the ringlet curls just like his mom had, soft chubby hands, and killer smile, is gone. His adolescent online handle was CheerfullyChubby. He made friends wherever he went and kept them. He mentored and gave opportunities to many musicians, won a Grammy with Kendrick LaMarr, and remembered all his cousins’ birthdays.
I’m going to miss him.
GodDAMNIT.

There’s a go fund me his friend put up for my sister.

I'm so sorry, Kate. I lost my niece 10 years ago. The pain never goes away, but it does recede. Blessings to your sister and to all your family.
