Addie and FRP will be back, I'm sure. That DNS issue bounced them and they didn't know to manually do the insecure http login. It'll flush out and they will get back on.

I don't know about the wisdom of recreating [the Orly] thread. I'm pretty sure TFB crashed under its ponderous weight.

I've been thinking about this.

I originally joined here because I enjoyed watching, chronicling, and poking the birthers. And this board's archives were very helpful in that regard. But, at this point, it is truly over. We just elected an "ineligible" vice president, and no attorney could be bothered to even file a lawsuit. I believe S.D. Cal. kooks abandoned their lawsuit, so the only lingering question is how much Laity will be sanctioned.

And if the archives are gone, I'm fine with relegating the past to the ether. I don't see the point in starting the chronicling from this point in time. So I also no longer see the point in regularly checking on the regular characters.

This board also was a solace during the previous administration. But, thankfully, it is mostly in the past. There are still concerns, still future challenges, of course. But the existential dread has ebbed, and I feel confident enough that there are enough competent adults running things that I don't need to spend as much time watching it.

And the sun is starting to shine again (literally as well as metaphorically). As the world starts to slowly restart, there might again be activity again beyond my four walls.

All of which is a long-winded way of saying I appreciate everyone's concern. I'm fine; I just think I'm going to focus on other things, at least a while.

And this reinforces my beliefs! In the time since The Big Crash, there's been exactly one article that I would even bother to carry over (Yet Another Rondeau/Zullo Whinefest about Montgomery).

Relatedly, my Twitter account remains suspended for no reason. Which is fine, because Twiiter is mostly a sewer. I trolled the birthers (and some others) mostly to gather data on how people react and interact. My results were depressingly as expected. Anyone in 2021 who still feels the need to publicly proclaim that Obama was born in Kenya isn't there to have a discussion, and I feel like I've learned enough about how people think and believe that I don't need to conduct that experiment any more.

In honesty, I considered taking a break when I found out we were starting anew. My willpower looks to be less than Bob's. I didn't make it a day.

I also was not taking the brunt of the crazy by going to Orly's and P&E, so there is that.
