Hello y'all!

I joined Fogbow when it was Politijab. Took a much longer break than expected, but hope to be a regular poster again. I became overwhelmed by the previous board so I'm taking this opportunity to return!

I'm a Psychology Professor in Western Or. Proud mama to Hodor the guinea pig and Kyo (pronounced Key-o) the flame point Siamese. Guinea pigs aren't just for 8 year olds. Do you know how much a Siamese talks? Too. Damn. Much. (Kitteh regularly meow bombs my recorded lectures.)

Partner Jon is a handful. I'm surrounded by knuckleheads. Dog bless 'em.

I'm also known as Mrs. Shrinky Lady :P (name bestowed upon me by Foggy!).

Hey Pard! LTNS. I miss the cemetery. I receive their newsletter every so often, but that's all. Are your whereabouts still known to me or have you moved? I still have my gun.

I still live a block from the cemetery! It's my favorite place to walk when we get snow.

It's a relief to know you still have your gun!!

Our little guy passed away on Wed. I had absolutely no idea how attached I'd become to a guinea pig. I had no idea that he'd become such a big part of the family.

Hodor was the sweetest little creature I've ever met. He was extremely affectionate and very silly. He lived in the livingroom, so we spent hours each day hanging out with him everyday. We almost lost him 3 years ago. Luckily (and surprisingly) we didn't. But Hodor developed a very aggressive cancer. He lived a long life for a guinea pig. He was 5 when he passed away.

The family is pretty sad. Kyo kitteh is confused. She was horrified by and fascinated with Hodor. She just couldn't figure out what he was. They spent hours together (safely).

I was profoundly allergic to Hodor. My skin burned if I touched him. He made me sneezy and itchy. We have a huge air purifier in the livingroom to try to control my allergies, but I was still a sneezy, itchy woman. But he was worth it. I couldn't snuggle with him and rarely touched him, but he was my baby. He loved the sound of my voice. We talked all the time.

My college roommate married a pet store owner. They raised their own to sell from 2 (very) mated pairs. They never wanted for baby guinea pigs.

Their daughter called them gingapuges (2 hard g’s, like huge with a p). She hand raised and loved them all.

Hodor. I can see why. :lovestruck:

Condolences. We somewhat recently lost a hamster (Arrow, or, affectionately, Hammy) after three years. It was surprising how enmeshed he had become with the family. We also had him in the living room, it made a big difference I think.

Poor Hodor, RIP little man. We use to have guinea pig named Dr Dolittle. He had a nice big cage in front of a big glass door in a nice sunny kitchen that also had a doggie door. One day something other than a cat or dog must have come in that door because we found poor Dr Dolittle basically disassembled inside his cage. It was very strange, the cage itself was undisturbed and right where it was supposed to be and nothing else was out of order.
