Today is our older daughter's birthday. Going out to a sushi restaurant to celebrate. This will be my first meal in a restaurant since early March 2020. Sure hope the vaccines are effective. ;)
Yesterday evening did not go as planned. :?

I was studying the online menu for our restaurant of choice when I realized it was after 6 PM. Went to find Mrs. V. who was sleeping in the recliner in our bedroom. Gently waking her she sent me to find out what our daughter and SIL planned for dinner timing with a suggestion that maybe takeout would be a good option.

I crossed the house to their living room to find our daughter half asleep on the couch snuggling some pillows. She readily agreed to takeout and got SIL to agree. So everyone assembled in my office to look at the online menu and order.

It was a considerable feast-

Yellowtail roll
Rainbow roll
Alaska roll
Oshinko roll
Shrimp tempura appetizer
Sashimi roll
Gyoza
California roll
Cucumber roll
Avocado roll
Asparagus roll
Two vegetable tempura appetizers
Dragon roll
Spider roll
Eastern roll

I phoned the order in. No problem with items that had menu numbers but the oshinko roll did not which required some spelling efforts between myself and the young lady whose first language was not English.

SIL and I went and picked it up. At the end of the meal only 4 pieces of what our daughter ordered were uneaten which she saved for today.

Then we watched "Radioactive" on Amazon Prime which I recommend.

"Radioactive" doesn't show much of the story of Madame Curie's younger daughter Eve (who didn't become a Nobel Prize winning physicist like everyone else in her family) but what a life she had-

Things not going as planned this weekend. :(

Our younger SIL's uncle died this morning so he will not be coming up. Nor will the cat and rats. Younger daughter still coming.

Just learned of death of one of Mrs. V's family friends.

Also just learned that Mrs. V's favorite cousin is seriously ill.

Sigh. Mrs. V. doesn't answer her phone for one morning and things fall apart.

Sorry about all of that, and that's a lot at one time.

We’re putting our townhouse on the market in a week or so. Prices in our neighborhood have been skyrocketing. Our realtor suggested a price point that we thought was low (just a little), and she explained that it’s better to have multiple offers to choose from.

Then yesterday a townhouse on our street almost identical to ours (same basic floor plan and sq ft but an extra bath), went on the market for 130K more than the realtor suggested we ask. She thinks it’s way over-priced. But it will be interesting to see what the sellers get, and if it sells quickly we’ll revisit our asking price.

Yesterday for the 2nd time this school year the city where our daughter teaches suffered a water main break. So her school closed at 1 PM due to having no water.

Today the water is flowing again but with a boil water notice.

Our cup runneth over.

Lake Arrowhead, one of 3 reservoirs used by Wichita Falls, is 100% full. The other 2 are 84% and 91%.

refresher:
He built a privately funded border wall. It's already at risk of falling down if not fixed.

Trump supporters funded a private border wall on the banks of the Rio Grande, helping the builder secure $1.7 billion in federal contracts. Now the "Lamborghini” of border walls is in danger of falling into the river if nothing is done, experts say.

Wichita Falls passed a bond issue to build two new high schools to replace the existing three high schools which are seriously obsolete. Now the cost of building materials has increased so much that the bond issues are not large enough.

Alternatives are being studied.

Our SIL the lawyer tells us that Wichita County has joined all the other TX counties and resumed in person court hearings.

With the end of online teaching in TX this means that both our daughter and SIL will be exposed to lots of people every day at work. :(

As I write this someone's car alarm has gone off. Well, it's a lovely morning on the North Fork and people should get up and enjoy it. ;)
