It might be out of date speculation, I can't find the discussions right now, but last I heard was it looked like a social engineering or bribery attack. Someone on the inside with customer support/admin type access changed the records for him.
I see there are two more arrests... both young. One in Orlando and one in the U.K.

Haven't seen anything definitive that there was a collaborator inside Twitter. :think:
Not necessarily an intentional collaborator, but someone inside who responded to a phishing email.

Twitter said on Thursday that a "small number of employees" were targeted in a "phone spear phishing attack" — where hackers trick people into handing over passwords or other credentials. Once the attackers got those credentials, they were able to use Twitter's account support tools to gain access to user accounts.
