That is a downright unusual pairing, would love to know the story there.

What a great way to start the day. Thanks!

She looks like a baby seal. My daughter once sent me a meme saying seals are dog mermaids.

Sunflower seeds are like crack for some birds.

This is true. I had a sun conure that refused to eat anything other than sunflower seeds. At the time, I didn't realize the health effects it had on him. He only lived 12 years and I blame myself for not forcing a healthier diet on him. It's like letting your kid live on ice cream. I swore I'd never have another bird on a seed diet.

My Amazon Gray, Molly, eats a cereal-ish diet and she's doing great. Also, she could open that door...eventually. She already knows how the first two (last?) latches works, sadly. I lost a smaller bird because Molly opened the little cage and climbed in, scaring Mango into flying out, where she was grabbed by my terrier. (Still makes me cry)

Not sure how long it would take Molly but she'd get it done, I bet in one afternoon. Between me and Hubs, we have five human kids. We joke Molly is the smartest kid of all. My oldest was taken back, then looked at Molly, and said, "Yeah, that's fair."

I babysit my brother's Senegal parrot several times a year and her diet is the same; cerealish with a few unshelled nuts. She loves those nuts & they help keep her beak in shape.

I had a cockatiel many years ago who enjoyed an occasional sunflower seed treat, but her crack was grapes. If you made the mistake of leaving a bunch of grapes and the bird both unattended, you would later discover a bunch of grapes with a beak-shaped bite taken out of each individual grape.

Molly is addicted to grapes. She asks for them specifically, although she'll gobble up bananas and apples, too.

Speaking of Molly, I've been trying to get her to say "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition." I saw another bird saying it on YouTube, but no luck. Less than a week ago, Hubs started teaching her "I'm so pretty!" and she already repeating that over and over. One problem, tho. She says it in Hubs' deep gravelly voice with the Okie accent.

As I type this, Molly is watching a documentary on constellations on Echo (kids got us the one with the small screen last Christmas). No. I did not pull it up for her. She did it herself. And the screen is conveniently turned in her direction. They're great pals, her and Echo.
