I believe he will have five months to cool his heels while awaiting sentencing!

Awww he's going to have fun in prison. Just watch as he pushes the envelope again and again. They'll stick him in the cooler a few times and he will get over it.

While he's awaiting sentencing, I think he is going to spend most of his time in protective custody. The only question is whether they put him there before or after someone kicks his ass.

I assume that offer is still valid, of course. He hasn't withdrawn it. That's 5 large PER HAIR, as I read it. Still some incentive for troublemaking, I reckon. :smoking:

The lawyer for the county or metropolitan area is likely advising protective custody just so the lawyer doesn't have any more work.

You are correct as usual, :sterngard: . I read the above quote and assumed he was going to a local jail leased to the feds. Here is the SCOOP from the New York Daily News:
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/mar ... -1.3493987
He was taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
It is a federal detention center per Wikipedia and all other googled items.
The details of the hearing are worth posting:
“He is soliciting an assault on another person in exchange for $5,000,” [U.S. Judge] Matsumoto said. “I can’t say with any certainty that the threats have not been taken seriously by anybody.”

The more Shkreli heard Matsumoto’s comments, the more slumped and stone-faced he became.

Shkreli, already looking grim, sagged slightly when he heard the decision to remand him.

It sent gasps through the courtroom. :snippity:

Shkreli gave a sad “What happened?” expression to his lawyers before he stood up, left his satchel full of papers on the defense table, and was escorted to a holding cell by two U.S. marshals.

When so-called "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud this summer, he boasted that he would probably spend less than a year at a "Club Fed," a cushy minimum security prison where he could work on his tennis game and Xbox skills.

Instead, until his sentencing in January, he will be locked up at a holding jail on Brooklyn's gritty waterfront that's home to accused mobsters, drug smugglers and terror suspects; one federal judge has likened it to "a Third World country."
:snippity:

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons, which runs the jail, said it could not discuss the conditions of Shkreli's confinement. It did note that inmates do not have access to the Internet, so Shkreli will be cut off from his Facebook page, his YouTube account, and eBay — where his auction of the sole copy of an unreleased Wu-Tang Clan album he bought for $2 million is currently hovering at just over $1 million.

I suspect that the lack of internet and faceplant and utubey will be the worst punishment for someone like that who lives by their ego.

'Pharma bro' Martin Shkreli sues company he founded for $30 million

“Pharma bro” Martin Shkreli sued the pharmaceutical company he founded for $30 million Friday, accusing its directors of using fraud to oust him from the organization’s leadership in 2014.

Shkreli filed the suit in federal court in Manhattan just days after he was transferred to a new prison in Pennsylvania. He is currently serving a seven-year sentence for securities fraud related to his two defunct hedge funds and to the pharmaceutical company Retrophin, which was created after the funds crumbled.

Shkreli named Gary Lyons, Retrophin’s chairman of the board of directors, former company CEO and current director Stephen Aselage and Margaret Valeur-Jensen, the company’s former top lawyer.

“After starting a biopharmaceutical company from scratch and turning it into a successful enterprise worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Mr. Shkreli was unceremoniously and illegally ousted from the company at the hands of Defendants,” the suit claims.

“Defendants, who had little to do with the success of the company but were instead driven by their egos, jealousy, and greed, were successful in only one thing: creating and carrying out a scheme to oust Mr. Shkreli from the company for their selfish benefit,” it continues. “Indeed, the only people who benefited from Mr. Shkreli’s ouster were the three Defendants and a few other people they recruited.”
....................
He began serving his time in a prison in New Jersey last year but was transferred to a federal jail in Brooklyn two months ago after it was revealed he was still helping run Phoenixus from behind bars.
