What's the exact URL you use to access Fogbow?

Do you have the issue if you use the URL I use - https:// thefogbow.com/forum/search.php?search_id=active_topics

DELETE THE SPACE after // in order to use that URL. I just inserted the <space> so that you see my URL as text.

URL with space deleted, so it should be clickable:

search.php?search_id=active_topics

Regarding what URL to use / getting logged out.

I use my laptop to access the Fogbow without any boot-out issues.

My iPhone boots me out regularly, though not as much as it did before I started using the above URL. It used to be every time I went to the site -- now it's once or twice week.

That said, my iPhone books me out of EVERYTHING on a regular basis. So I've come to the conclusion that, for me, it's the iPhone.

I have the same issue. It logs me out on my work computer all the time. While my home computer seems to stay logged in.

keith wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:31 pm Is there a magic incantation to get the forum software running on a desktop machine to remember me?

Seems to work fine on Android, but on my desktop (Windows 10, Firefox) I have to logon every time.

Other forums I visit, also running phpBB, do not seem to have this problem.

And yes, I keep trying to get it to work by checking the 'remember me' box.
What's the URL you are using to get to Fogbow? Is it https?

The link I have in my favorites is search.php?search_id=active_topics

I use an iPhone XR and iPad with Safari to view and I hardly ever get logged out. If I do it is usually associated with a board software upgrade.

I rarely get logged out since the big crash of 2021. I use Firefox on my laptop and the "Via" browser on my Android phone. When I do get bumped, I assume it's from Foghorn doing database maintenance and the sessions table getting flushed.

Yabbut, I only flush the sessions on Sunday morning at 6 am Eastern time. That's all.

Well, you didn't do it today because I didn't have to log in. :?

Communicating from my iPhone. No logout for me today either. I swear it’s the iPhone, not the fb.

Not a problem but I am not sure what the NFO (the blue box with an i in it) tag does?
Text entered with the NFO tag looks like this, but I am not sure what is the intended purpose.

The tooltip calls it "NOF ascii art text."
Just curious. Maybe it just strips the text to ascii? The Code code (or actually Code BBCode so as not to repeat myself) is still there so NFO is probably not for that.
Edit: Okay.. maybe it is for NFO type files, which, admittedly, I am not entirely sure of their purpose.

When does a thread get marked with a fire icon? Seems stupid to me as reader when I only get to see one new post since last reading a thread. Also too, just a few of posts make not yet a thread on fire. If I see I have suddenly several pages worth of posts to skim thru then I know there is some serious hot issue getting discussed.

Intended purpose, to keep the text as fixed font without paragraph flow

for us oldies https://www.asciiart.eu/ (one of several sites keeping history alive)

ASCII art was carried over from punched cards that got listed on those archaic devices known as tabulators

Also lived a life on punched tape to be fed thru teletype and telex machines

Didn't we used to be able to make our donations monthly? I've tried a couple of times, but don't see that option either here on the site, or on paypal. tx.

We had a blinking power failure - the power went off, then flashed on, then flashed off again, and like that for a few times.

... and it flash-fried my uninterruptible power supply. Yeah, the one that's more than 5 years old. Yeah, the one that I had to tape a quarter over the power button because my cat Johnny Bento stepped on the button and turned it off a couple times.

Very sad. I buried it in the back yard trash can and ordered a new one from Amazon.

Good news: Amazon says it will be delivered tomorrow. Bad news: When they say tomorrow, they mean "if we feel like it, and if it isn't too cloudy, and if our corn flakes aren't too soggy, and if my girlfriend doesn't yell at me for eating all the chocolate chip cookies".

I'm having trust issues. :batting:

Yes but not all is lost. My FEDEX package with a promised delivery date of last Friday arrived today. They were kind enough to send me an e-mail on four separate occasions advising me of the new delivery date(s).
