Isn’t exposing the vulnerable to a deadly disease a clear breach of duty of care.

Perhaps a few letter of notice will get the county to amen their policies and ensure proper care.

Thanks for the insight LM K. I don't have to go to Bend, OR. The depositions have been cancelled. The deponents are filing bankruptcy before Wednesday. Good for my COVID risk, not good for my clients.

I feel like Oprah.

"You get the 'rona, and you get the 'rona , and yes, you Miss Marley Jane, get the 'rona too!"

The good news is that because she has covid, she can go home to her parents who also have covid. Spent the last 6 hours or so in the peds ER with a polka dotted baby though. Her covid manifested as the craziest looking spots. Like, we thought she had the measles crazy looking spots, and they were coming up so fast we could practically see them developing. Then her legs and feet turned purple while we were in the ER but that went away. They blew veins in both arms trying to get an IV started but ultimately they got enough blood from one of the sticks that they didn't need to do any more. I'm having cheese nips for supper then going to bed.

Go get the fucking vaccination!

Oh yeah, what sort of low-rent fucking doctor's service uses a call-back number that is KNOWN TO GET STOPPED BY ANTI-SPAM? Who the hell does that? It took over 2 hours to get the initial call-back because my spam call blocker was catching it. The third time I called back the service just nonchalantly mentioned oh by the way, we use a 'private number' so your spam catcher might be blocking it.

Fuck you people!

And to the person checking people in at the ER desk, PUT ON A FUCKING MASK! I am not lying.

I reported her to every single other person I came in contact with and it did no good. Small consolation but at one point she asked me to sign some papers at the desk and shoved a pen at me. I told her to put the pen down and step her maskless self back to the accepted social distance of 6'. She just stared at me until I told her the second time.

Fuck these people. Fuck all these people.

This should be reported to the state medical board or something? This seems really bad.

I wrote a whiny post, which I accidentally deleted instead of posting. Glad about that. Basically, I'm tired of covid and covidiots. DOH notified us today that there are two clusters that will keep the numbers rising. One involved a church, the other an "educational setting." And a couple of hours later, there was another alert. For 3 days someone was sitting in the bus stop pavilion and on a bus. The route takes about an hour. Dates and times were provided. So another cluster is forming. The covid tracers are overwhelmed.

Then my son called to let me know that 3 of the 4 large hospitals on Oahu have passed capacity. Tents are going up in the parking lots. AND STILL the state hasn't put more restrictions in place. The mayors will have to order the restrictions island by island. Sounds like there will be a curfew and parks will close.

Patagoniagirl wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 3:57 pm My mother lives in a lovely independent/assisted facility run by the county. Most of the residents are vaccinated. Her apartment section has active, independent residents. Less than 45% of staff in the entire facility are vaccinated.

The few independent resident who are not vaccinated are allowed to mingle with the rest unmasked. They leave and visit family, go shopping, etc. Unmasked, unvaccinated.

I have seen facility employees at the grocery store, two who have made it abundantly clear they are not vaccinated, shopping and congregating without masks or socially distancing. The only Covid cases have been workers, no residents, but with the relaxed visitations and out-of-facility allowances, I dont want anyone exposed, let alone my mom.

With the Delta Delta variant surging, I am extremely upset, and my mother is panicked. I dont think either of us are unreasonable.

I am waiting on a call back from the Administrator. She is afraid also because she doesn't want to be kicked out for making trouble.

How the fuck can facilities be caring for compromised people like this and not have a gawddamned simple responsibility to be vaccinated and masked?!
Is contacting the county health department an option?

It sounds like the admin isn't happy with the state of things. What are her options?

Could daily or biweekly testing for staff be implemented? Or will staff scream about their "freedoms" and "HIPAA"?

Check out Bonafide Masks or Project 95 for authentic KN95 and N95 masks.
Thanks, LMK. I've left three messages for the administrator with no call back, so I am composing an email today.

They have a self-policing policy and provide KN95 masks. I know that residents cannot, at this time, be forced to be vaccinated, but to allow those same people to go in and out of the facility and interact freely without masks is irresponsible. The outside beautician who comes in weekly is not vaccinated and does not wear a mask when she does hair there.

As someone up thread said, these are vulnerable people who live good lives there, but they are vulnerable!

I was pleasantly surprised in Clatskanie OR this last week - the mask mandate is enforced!

Clatskanie is a working class town on US30 that parallels the Columbia River from Portland to Astoria. Trump Pence signs are still visible. Confederate flags fly on houses and pickup trucks. Broken smiles reveal dentistry is lacking. So, it's not hard to imagine the populous would ignore the governor's recently renewed mask mandate.

However, at the Conestoga Bar and Grill, the only watering hole around for miles, and the only place to get a meal after 7pm, is quite serious about it. Though it proudly announces it is biker friendly inside and out, the big dude at the door with hammers for hands will hand you a fresh blue mask if you forgot yours, and he'll remind you it ain't a chin strap. It stays on at all times except to sip your drink or to take a bite. It has to go back up while you chew or swallow. No exceptions. Even the patrons help enforce it.

I was quite amazed. I even saw a couple women escorted back to the door when they decided enough was enough, they had their rights, etc etc as they protested. The big guy silently pointed his finger at them, and then threw his thumb over his shoulder. They got up and left. Wow.

Bravo Clatskanie.

Whoa, good for them!

Even as cases start to rise in my small town, the spreadnecks are busy plotting ways to get around Inslee's mask and vaccine mandates (all persons involved in teaching will be required to vaccinate). Groups most represented by the rise? Guess, just guess...and if you guessed young people, you'd be correct!

The local school district has not returned yet, as we don't start until September 1st.

Our great niece has developed a bright red Covid rash over most of her body. Going to take an oatmeal bath.

No breathing problems.

Sugar, so sorry about the baby. That's so sad, but also infuriating and frustrating.

And I'll go with the rest. Fuck them all!

I'm more of an upbeat, take charge kind of person, but I'm so worn down by all of this. I'm angry a lot of the time--not my usual state. I'm furious because it didn't have to be this way, and I pretty much blame it on one man, who doesn't need to be named, and his enablers and brainless followers.

Oddly enough, the doctors advised against any kind of topical stuff like oatmeal baths or lotions for the baby's covid rash. They said simple soap and water and rinse well but don't do anything else to it. It may be because she's only 6 months old, and it does't appear to be itching or have open sores or blisters but we're doing what they suggested until told otherwise.

Our great niece is 11. Her mother, our niece, has been following her pediatrician's advice closely so I assume the oatmeal bath was the doctor's recommendation.

Sugar, I'm so sorry about the baby and your experience at the ER and with the call-back service. It's bad enough dealing with a sick baby with alarming symptoms (when she should never have been sick), but then to deal with COVIDIOCY on top of it. They deserve a big :fuckyou: :fuckyou: :fuckyou:

Answer- The latest variant can have initial symptom to death periods as short as this.
Question - What is nine days Alex?

Our next door neighbor informed us yesterday her ex died Friday nine days after getting a "massive headache". It's important because her live-in adult daughter visited with her father last weekend for dinner at his house. Now they are in quarantine as they await test results.

Got tested this afternoon and we're both negative. They did the rapid test and the PCR. We got the rapid test results before we left, but the PCR won't be back until tomorrow. The Health Dept says to stay home until we get those results because rapid results are only "presumed."
