Caitlyn Jenner for Governor and Grift / War Between GOP & MAGA / Brad Parscale

#1

Post by Luke »

Democrats can hang back and watch the GOP & MAGA go to war with each other over celebrity grifting candidate Caitlyn Jenner. Time for a little Orly style roundup on this first disastrous week. Brad Parscale, known for embezzling millions from the disgraced loser*, is in all-in to enrich himself and grift the marks again**.

Hard-core MAGATs are going nuts. Meanwhile, sycophants like Ryan Fournier, who in a world of liars and grifters is in a class by himself (he'll just shamelessly lie to make a buck, this kid has zero morals), is now lapping up some Caitlyn. Last year, he slammed trans folks with all sorts of nastiness. Now, he's lovin' it.

Caitlyn Jenner struggles to go from OMG moment to a campaign for California governor
By MARIA L. LA GANGA STAFF WRITER MAY 7, 2021 5 AM PT

Caitlyn Jenner found out this week that running for governor is trickier than appearing on reality television. During her first major television interview — an on-air embrace on the Fox News “Hannity” show Wednesday — Jenner lamented that a friend is leaving California because he hates seeing “the homeless” when he walks down the street. She was interviewed in her private airplane hangar. The friend has one, too. But he’s packing it up for a move to Sedona, Ariz.

When asked by TMZ on Sunday whether trans girls should be allowed to compete in sports, the 71-year-old said “it just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.” Yet the transgender Olympic athlete has competed in women’s golf tournaments, in particular the LPGA Tour‘s ANA Inspiration tournament in Rancho Mirage.

Jenner did not respond when asked about the LPGA tournament during an interview with The Times on Thursday. A campaign aide ended the interview and later responded to a follow-up question sent by email: “Caitlyn was playing in a charity tournament with LPGA pros where everyone was playing from the same tee. It’s disappointing some want to use a charity event in a political way.”

Jenner announced April 23 that she was entering the race to unseat Gov. Gavin Newsom in the coming recall election, but this was the Republican’s first week actively campaigning. She gave three major interviews — to conservative commentator Sean Hannity, CNN and the Los Angeles Times. She released her first ad. And she beefed up her campaign website.

Jenner and her campaign staff are struggling to move beyond the OMG phase of her candidacy — OMG, another celebrity politician! OMG, a transgender woman running for office! They want to talk policy, hash out the big problems facing this big state and tell voters how the candidate would work to solve them.

And wait till the MAGAts catch on to this:
Caitlyn Jenner favors a pathway to citizenship, says border crisis prompted run for governor
May 9, 2021, 8:37 PM UTC By Allan Smith

Caitlyn Jenner, the California GOP gubernatorial candidate, said she favors a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and that the Biden administration's handling of the influx of migrants at the U.S. southern border pushed her into the race. "I am for legal immigration, okay. What's been happening on the border was honestly one of the reasons I decided to run for governor," Jenner told CNN in an interview set to air in-full Monday night. "I was watching people dying come across the river, kids in cages — whatever you want to call them."

She added she has "met some of the most wonderful people who are immigrants, who have come to this country and they are just model citizens." "They are just great people and I would fight for them to be U.S. citizens," Jenner said. Jenner said deportations should be focused on those with criminal records, affiliations with the MS-13 gang and, as she said, "the list goes on." "It's a lot of bad people that are trying to cross our border illegally," she said. "I don't want those people in our country."

Unprepared and unfit, but with a 3.5 million Twitter follower userbase and huge name recognition, Caitlyn must need the money and this is one way to grift the marks. But she's going to implode with this heretical platform: MAGTs brook NO dissent.

Caitlyn Jenner Working With Donald Trump's Former Campaign Manager Brad Parscale On California Governor Run
By: Ryan Naumann Apr. 23 2021, Updated 11:59 a.m. ET

Caitlyn Jenner has hired Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale to help assist her to run for Governor of California, despite her previously denying the connection.

Earlier today, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star announced she was officially throwing her hat in the ring.

She released a statement reading, "I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality. As Californians, we face a now-or-never opportunity to fundamentally fix our state before it’s too late.”

The friend has one, too. But he’s packing it up for a move to Sedona, Ariz.
Once upon a time, back in 1969 when I was at NAU for a while, Sedona was a nice small unspoiled artsy town.

Now it appears to have been Californicated by hangar owning neer-do-wells.

Oh, well, things change. I suppose you have to wear clothes at Slide Rock these days too.

Also, truly a representative of the common folk. It is so sad, my friend, who also has a private hangar for his/her private plane, is packing up because he/she ran across a homeless person and now they might have cooties.

And the idiot running around with a bear and featuring the bear in all of his promotional crap -- why is everyone focusing on the bear and not me? Well, because the bear is smarter, better looking, has more integrity, etc. And while I wouldn't want anyone seriously hurt or the bear hurt, part of me would just laugh if the bear showed a little attitude, especially if just towards the candidate.

It is always a puzzle to me when someone, like Jenner, experiences their journey, then turns on those who are on the same path. She has played as a woman in Golf Tournaments, yet now opposes trans girls in sports.

I bet she even uses the ladies' locker rooms.

The horror. The horror.

(To be clear, I find the hypocrisy vastly more horrifying than which locker room Caitlyn Jenner uses.)

N.Y. Daily News (in 2016): Caitlyn Jenner to participate in a women's golf tournament:
It's tee time for Caitlyn Jenner.

The transgender super star will take part in the women's Pro-Am golf ANA Inspiration tournament, according to sources close to the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Jenner's line now is that was a "charity event."

I need to qualify this. Jenner is a freak show --- trans people are not... and I know many. Jenner, she should get off the stage cause she does NOT represent.

I wonder if this is not just a grift (which it seems to be), or if it's like a Kanye West attempt to siphon votes? I confess I haven't paid attention to who might also be running, but this just seems to smell like fish to me.

Somewhere in the middle: Doing it for the clicks, a la Schwarzenegger in 2003.
I confess I haven't paid attention to who might also be running, but this just seems to smell like fish to me.
It isn't vote siphoning because the other anticipated candidates are basically political nobodies: Kevin Faulconer (San Diego's former mayor), John Cox (perennial candidate, but his time has a live bear!), Doug Ose (former representative), and Ric Grenell (repeached Florida Man's Acting DNI) are the biggest politico names.

There are also some other has-been/never-was celebrities. Mike Cernovich has made some noise about running.

The Democrats are mulling whether to boycott (i.e., just vote against the recall) or submit a singular united-front candidate, like Antonio Villaraigosa (former LA mayor) or Tom Steyer.

So Jenner thinks she can speak for all trans persons, just because she was (when a dude) famous and won a gold medal.

This bitch needs to go away. I'm fucking sick of "reality TV' Orlylicious, can we end the bullshit of propping up druggies --- it means nothing. You think it's funny ... it's not.

Yes, she is because she's the first introduction to the masses for many on transgender issues -- because of her platform/voice. She has set transgender persons back with her crazy talk.

She is not a voice that should be listened to as authoritative on the subject. And should definitely not be voted for into office.

IMHO.

Apparently Jenner is also claiming the the election was NOT stolen - The Hill: Caitlyn Jenner says election was not 'stolen,' calls Biden 'our president'. I'm just wondering which Republicans will vote for her. She's trans and she's not supporting Trump's Big Lie.

Cue the right wing outrage -- "See, "she" isn't a real republican, she is a liberal commie socialist femnazi, etc. demoncrat masquerading as a republican. "She" never had a sex change and we should conduct a physical and DNA examination to see if it is even human." Just wait, that shit is coming. Having said that, I think she is despicable and should take her private plane somewhere else, maybe the Bermuda Triangle.

OMG. We might need to get behind her to keep her propped up for a while.
Jenner says she's 'kind of' a Republican
By JEREMY B. WHITE and CARLA MARINUCCI 05/10/2021 10:09 PM EDT

OAKLAND — Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner portrayed herself as a fiscal conservative and social liberal in a Monday CNN conversation that marked her second national TV interview since she launched her California gubernatorial recall campaign last month. Jenner emphasized some standard conservative positions on the economy and blocking illegal entry into the U.S., but eschewed more hardline positions. She initially pushed back when reporter Dana Bash called her a Republican, saying she was "kind of on the Republican side." Jenner is a registered Republican voter in Los Angeles County. "I don't like labels, you know," Jenner said. "I'm me. OK? This is how I do it. Just because I have conservative economic philosophy, that's the only thing that the Republicans are kind of on that I'm on. But I don't know, maybe you call me a Libertarian, maybe you call me the middle. I really don't know because when it comes to social issues, I'm much more progressive, much more liberal."

Jenner supported former President Donald Trump's election in 2016 before criticizing him in 2018 on transgender issues. Despite reports that Trump is considering a 2024 run, Jenner said in the interview that "we're in a post-Trump era." But it took multiple questions for her to say, "No, I believe in the system" when she was asked if she thought President Joe Biden did not win the 2020 election. Jenner also revealed that she did not vote for president last November, nor did she vote in any of the 2020 down-ballot races, opting instead to play golf. "I just couldn't get excited about it," she said.

Jenner gave the impression of a candidate still sorting through her political positions. She said she has been meeting with advisers from the fiscally conservative Hoover Institution at Stanford University to get up to speed on California issues. The interview aired Monday night but was taped earlier at her home in Malibu. She aligned herself with the Republican mainstream by saying she opposed new taxes, warning against illegal immigration and decrying what she called excessive environmental regulations. But she also seemed to embrace somewhat more moderate positions by advocating for a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and saying she would follow the advice of Kim Kardashian, her former wife's daughter, on criminal justice reform. As she competes for attention with other Republican candidates — including former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, businessman John Cox and former Rep. Doug Ose — Jenner has been pressed to provide more details on her policy positions after she declared in late April she will run in the recall against Gov. Gavin Newsom.
***
Asked which experts she's met with, Jenner only mentioned "Lee" at the Hoover Institution. The think tank has become a well-worn stop for Republican gubernatorial candidates over the years; former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger tapped former Secretary of State and Hoover scholar George Shultz as an economic adviser during his 2003 recall campaign. Lee Ohanian, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a UCLA economics professor, confirmed to POLITICO on Monday night that he was the "Lee" in question. Jenner praised him as "so smart" and "like my new best friend." Ohanian said he met with her by Zoom after her campaign approached him for his views on housing affordability and other issues. "We spoke about common sense reforms to the California Environmental Quality Act … which as you probably know has been used in some legitimate ways but perhaps in some other ways to try to delay building," he said.
***
Jenner’s appearance on CNN came after a rough campaign rollout in which she was criticized for a website that originally failed to provide any policy policy positions. Then comments she made last week on “Hannity" went viral and were mocked by comedians after she lamented that a neighboring private plane owner at her airport hangar is abandoning California because he “can't take” seeing people experiencing homelessness anymore. Jenner, 71, is a wealthy political newcomer who became a celebrity nearly five decades ago with a gold medal win in the 1976 Olympic decathlon.

But she’s also spent years on reality TV’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and has become a high-profile transgender rights activist. Sources say the reality TV star has been meeting with supporters and GOP activists, and is involved in fundraising. But so far, the candidate has done no public events and just one interview with California media about her drive to lead the nation’s most populous state. She said in the Monday interview that her famous children "are not involved whatsoever in this." Jenner said she told them "I am not going to ask you for one tweet. I'm not going to ask you for one thing. You guys live your life." In that sit-down with the Los Angeles Times last week, Jenner said she was curious as to how her gubernatorial campaign would be met by the public and the press. “Here I am, little Caitlyn. I’ve lived my life authentically for the last six years. I’ve never been happier," she said. "Things have never been better. And I never could have done this in my old life."

If'n she gets on the ballot this year, she'll be plenty excited, and probably even vote!

Wait, what? She did vote. This is too bizarre.

Tortured explaner in the Politico article in the tweet, and:
Her claim to be a non-voter in that seminal 2020 election was baffling for a gubernatorial candidate trying to establish her political credibility, especially since records show she did participate in the contest. And it remains unclear why her statements conflict with the records. Some political insiders speculated the candidate, speaking off the cuff, may have wanted to distance herself from Trump on CNN. Or that she possibly couldn't keep her elections straight. Tim Rosales, a GOP strategist, said he’s heard many candidates over the years claim to have voted when they hadn’t — and got caught because voting records are public. “But I've never heard it the opposite way, where somebody said that I didn't vote" and they actually did, he said. "I can imagine, having been on the inside of these types of high profile campaigns, you've got a lot of a lot of people scrambling right now," Rosales added.

A new poll from the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies shows registered voters are opposing the California recall by a margin of 49-35. But when asked to select a replacement candidate should the recall succeed, registered voters prefer more experienced GOP candidates over Jenner. Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and former 2018 Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox each have 22 percent support from registered voters, while former Rep. Doug Ose has 14 percent. Democrats for now have opted against running a candidate in the free-for-all ballot out of concern that it would detract from overall opposition to the recall. Jenner, meanwhile, is far behind at 6 percent in the first major poll since she announced her candidacy in late March.

“This is not someone who is serious about public life. If she were, she would know there is record of who votes — and who doesn’t," said Claremont McKenna College professor Jack Pitney, a former GOP campaign operative. “She hasn’t said anything even remotely sensible. It’s a reality show, and she likes attention. This gets her attention. Mission accomplished."

“We’re number one in regulations, we’re number one in taxes and we’re number one in people exiting the state. It doesn’t have to be that way.

“They’re leaving for one reason and one reason only, and that is overbearing government, overreaching government, overtaxing us, over-regulating us.

“We just have to have a good business environment and less regulations on the people here in this state and that’s what I plan on fighting for.

“I need your support. I cannot do this alone. Let’s take back California for the people.” – Caitlyn Jenner, in a campaign video issued today.

It drives me crazy when people talk about wanting to run government like a business, as though that's a great model. And even if it was, government's goals and business' goals are not the same. Of course, that's the republican mantra.
