USA Today
Secret Service spent $7,100 renting luxury portable toilets for Trump's Bedminster trip

The financial strains on the Secret Service under the Trump administration are now well-known.

And you can add luxury portable restrooms to their mounting bills.

The agency spent thousands of dollars to rent the restrooms during the president's August "working vacation" at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., according to a review of purchase orders flagged by the progressive PAC American Bridge and verified by USA TODAY.

The agency signed a contract with Imperial Restrooms to provide trailers on Aug. 3. That contract was updated a week later, bringing the total spent on the restrooms to $7,100 from Aug. 3 to Aug. 21.

"Leave it to Donald Trump to find a way to spend thousands of taxpayer dollars on a port-a-potty, " American Bridge spokesperson Brad Bainum said. "This man is literally flushing our money down the toilet."

New York Times
Donald Trump Jr. Gives Up Secret Service Protection, Seeking Privacy

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, has elected for forgo protection by the Secret Service, according to a senior administration official.

The agency ceased protecting Mr. Trump, who lives in New York City and is an executive at the Trump Organization, last week. Mr. Trump, an avid camper and hunter, is said to be seeking more privacy than he can expect with a contingent of agents accompanying him everywhere.

It was not immediately clear whether the decision applied to his family; he and his wife, Vanessa, have five children. Mr. Trump could not be reached, and the White House did not return a message seeking comment.

But giving up protection of even the younger Mr. Trump alone will provide relief for the Secret Service, which has had its work force and resources strained by the size and lifestyle of the Trump family.

I wonder what the Trump' family code names are. Not the official ones, but the ones used when the agents are off duty knocking back a few beers.

I would bet the Secret Service is cramping Trump the Younger's style. Hard to pull off Trump style crimes and cons when you are surrounded by members of a law enforcement group that investigates crimes having to do with money and the financial industry.

Kellyanne Conway will no longer be covered by Secret Service agents, according to multiple reports.

Fox News reported Tuesday that the White House senior advisor dropped her protection.

An official told The New York Times, meanwhile, that the threat level against Conway has changed since she was approved for protection. The Times noted that Conway’s protection is not covered by statute, adding that President Trump approved protection for her after several threats.

WTOP
Secret Service: Man arrested near White House had weapons in car

WASHINGTON — A man arrested Sunday near the White House had a cache of weapons in his car, and said he had an appointment with top administration officials.

According to a police incident report obtained by WTOP, officers from the the U.S. Secret Service Uniform Division approached the man outside the Renwick Gallery, at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street, near the White House, as he was allegedly relieving himself.

The suspect told officers and agents he was headed to the White House, and wanted to meet with National Security Agency Director Admiral Mike Rogers and Defense Secretary James Mattis “for advice on missing paychecks and how to get the dog chip out of my head,” according to the incident report.

The man’s 2009 Silver Nissan had Tennessee Fraternal Order of Police license plates. When asked if he had any weapons in his car, the man said yes, and consented to a search. ...

Police found nine guns, including several handguns and assault-style rifles, as well as three knives, brass knuckles, suppressors and ammunition.

The man was taken to a D.C. facility “for mental observation,” and was later charged with several weapons violations at a police station.

Donald Trump Jr.'s Secret Service detail restored, sources say ...

The President's son had previously requested his protection be scaled back, seeking more privacy.

By law, as an immediate family member of President Donald Trump, his son is authorized, but not required, to have protection. ...

Previously, Trump Jr. had also requested to travel without protection during a family trip in June, which the Secret Service reluctantly approved.

Two sources who spoke on condition of anonymity previously told CNN that the Secret Service strongly pushed back on his request, but said it was "demanded" by Trump Jr. himself.

The Secret Service detail has been restored to what it was before, the sources said.

CNN Money
Secret Service paid Mar-a-Lago at least $63,000, documents show

The U.S. Secret Service paid tens of thousands of dollars to President Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in the span of a few months, according to documents obtained by CNN.

The expense forms show that taxpayer dollars have flowed into Trump's private club as a result of his repeated visits to the so-called Winter White House, which pulls in millions a year from members who pay a premium for its oceanside amenities and bedroom suites.

Most of the $63,700 in payments from the Secret Service to Mar-a-Lago were made between February and April, and were categorized as hotel costs on government expense forms. The payments are detailed in forms and more than a dozen invoices on Mar-a-Lago letterhead ranging from $1,300 to $11,050.

The purposes of the expenses were not spelled out in the documents, which were redacted before CNN reviewed them. The redactions make it unclear whether there were additional payments to Mar-a-Lago.

Experts said the bills could be for rooms rented to agents, space leased for communications equipment or other purposes.

The payments to Mar-a-Lago are just a fraction of the total Secret Service costs detailed in the records CNN reviewed, which include bills from other hotels, car rental companies and event services in South Florida.

Truck driver charged with threatening to assassinate Trump

DETROIT (AP) — A truck driver has been charged in federal court with threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump in several phone calls to Secret Service field offices.

Special Agent Matthew Lariviere wrote in a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday that James Anthony Jackson repeatedly called the Secret Service field office in Chicago on Oct. 12-13 and made more phone calls to the field office in Detroit on Oct. 18 threatening to “blow Trump’s brains out.”

Lariviere wrote Jackson called from a phone that was registered to James Jackson Profit Group LLC in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Detroit News reports the company is linked to an outreach center in Grand Rapids.

The News reports Jackson was born in 1984 but a hometown wasn’t available and the U.S. Attorney’s Office refused to discuss the case.

Secret Service apprehends attempted White House fence jumper

The U.S. Secret Service says an individual has been taken into custody after attempting to jump a security barrier on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the White House.

President Donald Trump was inside the White House during the Sunday morning incident.

The Secret Service tweeted at about 8 a.m. Sunday that someone tried to jump a row of metal bike racks that are being used to create a second row of fencing outside the executive mansion.

Those racks were installed in response to a series of fence-jumping incidents in recent years, including a man who made it into the White House in 2014. ...

The Secret Service hasn't immediately provided more details.

Secret Service has spent nearly $150k on golf cart rentals since Trump took office: report ...

According to federal purchase orders obtained and reported on by USA Today, the Secret Service has spent at least $144,975 on golf cart rentals alone since Trump took office.

Nearly $7,500 was spent on golf cart rentals during Trump’s Thanksgiving weekend at his private beach club Mar-a-Lago.

Trump spent five days on the golf course during his Thanksgiving weekend, including once when he said he was playing golf “quickly” with Tiger Woods.

Throughout his presidency, Trump has spent more than 100 days at Trump properties, and 81 days at golf properties in particular, according to an NBC tracker.

Spending in the Trump administration has been under scrutiny, especially for security-related costs for his frequent trips to Trump properties. As of October, the Secret Service had reportedly paid more than $63,000 to Mar-a-Lago.

Man charged with threatening the president after allegedly saying he was going to 'blow up' White House

A Kansas man was charged Wednesday with threatening the president after allegedly saying he was going to "blow up" the White House.

Brandon Koss was charged Wednesday and is now in federal custody, the Kansas City Star reported.

According to the report, Koss — who was already known to the Secret Service — allegedly made a call to the White House early on Jan. 26.

"I'm going to blow up the White House," he allegedly told the operator.

After the Secret Service traced the call, an agent went to his last known address, but Koss refused to go to the door and agreed only to speak to the agent over the phone, an affidavit said, according to the Star.

He told the agent during the call that he made a call to the White House to report terrorism, the Star reported. But Koss said he didn't make the alleged threat to the White House.

Secret Service: Woman arrested after driving car into security barrier near White House

WASHINGTON (WJLA) —

Secret Service officials say a woman is in custody after she drove into a security barrier near the White House Friday afternoon.

The vehicle is located at the corner of 17th Street and E Street NW, just around the corner from the White House, according to officials.

"The vehicle did not breach the security barrier of the White House complex," Secret Service tweeted.

This is a developing story that will be updated.

Woman arrested holding “gun” after driving into White House barrier was convicted last year of trying to climb fence

A Tennessee woman who was convicted last year of trying to climb a White House barrier was arrested again Friday after authorities said she drove a vehicle into a barricade near the executive mansion and was found with a gun in her hand.

D.C. police identified her as Jessica R. Ford, 35, of La Vergne, Tenn., about 20 miles southeast of Nashville. Police said Friday night that she was charged with gun possession and other offences. ...

D.C. Superior Court records show three arrests for Ford last year on charges of either unlawful entry or violating a court order to stay away from the White House. She also received psychiatric counseling, the records show. Ford received a 90-day suspended jail sentence in one case, and another charge was dismissed.

The third incident was in April. A Secret Service officer questioned her in Lafayette Square, and she told him, according to an arrest affidavit, “I’m going to jump the fence.” She ran to the fence and tried to climb it.She was arrested, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended, and put on a year’s probation.

According to a police report she said “she had the ‘BB Gun’ because if James Burris was the President the officers would shoot her to protect him and that she knowingly brought the gun with her.” The police report said she held a pistol. It was not clear what type of gun she had.
