Don't get excited yet, still a long way to go, and then there will be the clinical trials needed to get admissions in all countries around the world. Finding a new way to produce insulin does not free the developers from getting the medical approvals.

In due course, even if the FDA would go ahead, the GOP will show their great love of small governments and free markets by finding a way to prevent any open source version. The pharma corporations must have their profits protected. Their general welfare must be protected from free-market competition. It is the job of the government.
