https://abcnews.go.com/US/active-shoote ... itter_abcn
An "active shooter" has been reported at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, police said.

A law enforcement source told ABC News that officers responded to a report of someone shot in the parking area, and when they arrived at the scene, a suspect opened fire on them.

There are reports of injuries, but no further details are currently available, according to the source.

Reports say at least 6 dead, including a police officer. Perp apparently wounded and in hospital. Boulder Police just gave a presser which was mainly "I don't know."

Just watched a very bizarre press conference in which the only thing confirmed is that one member of the Boulder police department died. Officials did not give number of other fatalities. One person of interest is in the hospital being treated for an injury. Local news stations are saying they are getting confirmation of six or seven killed. There was a much played video clip in which police were shown escorting a handcuffed white male with blood running down his leg to an ambulance. He was wearing shorts and nothing else.

The Boulder police department says they will release additional information tonight after next of kin notification.

Man, good thing this guy was just murdering some people instead of trying to sell some loose cigarettes, pass a bad $20, or carrying some Skittles.

If the active shooter in Boulder was anything other than white, they'd be walking him out in a body bag instead of handcuffs.

Just saying.

From the Washington Post
“The fact that it’s happening all over America,” he added, “seeing it on the news, like, something I’ve grown up with, like people my age and my generation — we’re used to this, and it’s just never something that I think would happen in my town.”

There have been as many as nine school shootings in the area since the Columbine massacre in 1999, which left 12 students and a teacher dead. Four other major shootings have occurred within 20 miles of the suburban Columbine High School, including a 2012 shooting at a movie theater in Aurora that left 12 dead.
"never something that I think would happen in my town"? People are walking around in a daze.

So, is there a scoreboard for the state with the most active shooter situations? It seems Colorado is the leader.

Not a scoreboard, a tracker. Like for COVID and other public health issues.

Pretty accurate Spidey as it looks as if they will now be in second place.

Colorado is middle of the road in this Pew Research chart for all gun violence per 100000. In fact, all of the top five from the previous chart become middle of the road. But, this isn't a pure apples to apples comparison of just active shooter situations either.

Ten people killed at a Colorado grocery store, including a Boulder police officer, have been identified, as has the 21-year-old rifle-wielding shooter.

Law enforcement officials said the suspect, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, was shot in the leg as carried out the attack with a rifle, and was in the hospital on Tuesday morning, prior to being booked into jail and charged. They offered no details on a suspected motive.

The rampage was the latest in a history of mass shootings in the Denver area, and comes as the nation is still grappling with a devastating attack in Atlanta that left eight people dead last Tuesday.
They ranged in age from 20 to 65.

Hours after America's second mass shooting in a week, Sen. John Kennedy downplays the gun problem by noting that "we have a lot of drunk drivers in America that kill a lot of people. We ought to try to combat that too ... the answer is not to get rid of all sober drivers."

Authorities on Tuesday identified the suspect in the shooting deaths of 10 people at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, as 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, whose brother said he was deeply disturbed.

Alissa, who is from Arvada, has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder for the massacre. He was taken into custody after being shot during apprehension.

Ali Aliwi Alissa, the suspect’s 34-year-old brother, told The Daily Beast that authorities searched his house all night after the shooting.

Alissa described his brother as “very anti-social” and paranoid, adding that, in high school, he would describe “being chased, someone is behind him, someone is looking for him.”

“When he was having lunch with my sister in a restaurant, he said, ‘People are in the parking lot, they are looking for me.’ She went out, and there was no one. We didn’t know what was going on in his head,” Alissa said, admitting that he believes his brother is mentally ill.

Sounds like a paranoid schizophrenic but of course I am not an MD and it doesn't seem from this article that he had mental health intervention. So because we don't invest in mental health care in this country and it's A-OK for anyone to get their hands on a high power rifle, 10 more people are dead.
